Liberation may have saved thousands maybe even millions of Jews from dying but the
suffering did not end there. When Jews and non Jew survivors were liberated it was
difficult to go back home because tensions still existed in Europe. Even after the holocaust
Jews were still dying because of the ideas Hitler put into these peoples mind. Millions of
Jews migrated to safer places that had refugee camps. many organizations contributed to
helping jews get back on their feet in a safe environment. Many Jews still wanted to
immigrate whether to the U.S., Palestine, and many borders in Europe were closed to these
people. The Jewish Brigade Group (a Palestinian Jewish unit of the British army) was
formed to facilitate the exodus of Jewish refugees from Europe to Palestine. When Israel
was created in may of 1948 jewish refugees began streaming into this new state.Possibly as
many as 170,000 Jewish refugees had immigrated to Israel by 1953. In December 1945,
President Harry Truman issued a directive that loosened quota restrictions on immigration
to the US of persons displaced by the Nazi regime. Under this directive, more than 41,000
displaced persons immigrated to the United States. Approximately 28,000 were Jews. the
holocaust my have seemed like it was over quickly but it had great devastating affects on
the rest of the world.

The holocaust didn't just affect jews or the people directly involved it affected everyone.
from individual nations to the United Nations; from religious leaders to professionals in
fields as diverse as law, medicine, and science. it made the world see differently. Although
the holocaust brought many bad things it also brought some good even though it may be
hard to see. Recognition that the protection of human rights is an international concern
expanded dramatically with the 1948 adoption by the United Nations of the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights. it brought new laws and it got the attention of the world
that this is a serious problem that can be fixed. Human rights continues being the focus of
many government officials. After the Nazi era there have been many refugee camps and
places for jews, to help it get better. Under the 1951 UN Refugee Convention,
governments promised not to return refugees to places where their life or freedom would be
threatened on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social
group, or political opinion. Although we may be compelled to just see all the bad the
Nazis brought after they were gone the world has really made changes to let this never
happen again and thats important.

Night
Although Night doesn't show much of an effect on the world it does show the effect it had
on the people going through those horrible acts. When Wiesel first started in the book he
had faith and wanted to learn as much as he could about who he was and his faith, He

showed a lot of aspirations. But very soon after arriving at the first camp he soon loses his
devoutness. He resents God more than he does adore him. By the end of the book it seems
he loses every bit of faith he ever had. Im not sure if he ever got that back. He mentions a
boy who is trying to lose his faith and get away from him, Wiesel vows he would never do
that turn his back on his father. But again by the end of the book he does that. he doesn't
come when his father needs his help and he even thinks about how much easier would be if
he was gone and he wasn't wrong but it changed him. He was not the same boy who got
onto the cattle car as when he left. For example one boy had a family and faith, while the
other boy had no one and no faith to lean on.

Since the holocaust did take so many lives and cause so many people to make changes
countries themselves ave suffered. The war in Palestine and the Russian economy are two
major effects that have occurred. Russia after the holocaust has seen lower economic
growth and wages ever since, according to a detailed new analysis of seven decades of
Soviet and Russian data. These same areas have tended to resist political reform, exhibiting
greater popular support for Communist candidates since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The Russian middle class was greatly reduced. Many professors have come together to
show the long term affects the holocaust has and continues to have on this world. Studies
show that jews made up a disproportionate share in the middle class. The persecution of
Jews had long-lasting effects on the societies left behind, not because Jews constituted a
large share of the population, but because they constituted a large share of key strata of

society, which are essential constituents of economic and political development These
people are studying how much the jewish population had an effect on the community
before and after. Jews has showed a decline of 39% between 1939 and 1959. Its affects the
money, with lower average GDP per capita in cities where the jew population was high.
The holocaust made people more favorable to communism and that in itself is a whole
other problem. With the research provided it is notable that the holocaust has lasting effects
on not just jews but the entire world and how we live.
