Wave Hello to a Great Education
Pepperdine University was founded in 1936 by George Pepperdine who had a firm
commitment to giving a higher level education with Christ-like life and love for the church.
The university itself has grown in many ways, including size, athletics, academics, and the
spiritual affirmation. Today, it continues to grow and flourish being ranked fifty in the nation.
Because of its stellar academic program and focus on a community working together to love God
and give back, attending Pepperdine university sets one up for success in post-baccalaureate life
because of its stimulating learning environment, its exceptional law program, and the exquisite
resources available on campus.
Attending Pepperdine University sets one up for success in post-baccalaureate life because
of its stimulating learning environment. With 44% of the classes having 20-29 people this allows
the professors to focus on each student, to help meet his/her academic needs (collegedata.com.)
Having smaller class sizes can benefit students by not only building teacher relationships, but
also to build peer relationships. These peer relationships grant the opportunity to improve on
what is being taught. The student to teacher ratio being 12:1 benefits students because it gives
more one-on-one time with a professor (pepperdine.edu.) This provides a good opportunity to get
to know his/her professor, in a way that will help one reach full potential of learning. Even
though the ratio between student- teacher is small, it is not a small school. With over 7,000
attendees in all (3,451 being undergraduates) this will give many opportunities to meet new
people and expand social horizons (collegedata.com.) This can be very helpful in the interest of
making life-long friendships and connecting to peers in the same line of work as one. Making

those connections for later in life will only increase networking opportunities for success. There
are many ways on campus to get to know fellow students with over 100 different clubs and
activities available including; greek life, student government, volunteer work and campus
ministry. Pepperdine is in fact, named one of the top ten schools for community service
(pepperdine.edu.) This is a very influential and meaningful aspect of being a part of the
Pepperdine school community. It is important in a campus environment, because it shows
gratitude and strengthens the overall community. Students not only learn compassion and
patience but it instills life long values of giving back and putting others before oneself. In
conclusion Pepperdine university has a great campus environment that will only set students up
for success in all walks of life.
In addition, attending Pepperdine University sets one up for success in post-baccalaureate
life because of its exceptional law program. It is designed to help students choose a major that
most increase ones chances of not only getting into law school but succeeding as a law student.
Within the university there is a variety of pre-law courses available, including two completely
different pre-law programs. This is important because it provides students with many different
options and available career fields. The Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and Law is
specifically geared toward recognizing that many law students seek to pursue alternative career
paths (pepperdine.edu.) This gives one the opportunity to find what best suits him/her. The
program does not set a limit to what a student can offer, but rather sets a standard for what they
should be offering. A student is given many choices in what he/she may do later in life. This
offers a variety of paths that go along with ones individual plan. Along with the variety in the
law program there is a variety of organizations specifically tailored for young law students.
These organizations are primarily student run, and events are as varied as social gatherings, guest

speakers, fundraising drives, and service opportunities (pepperdine.edu.) Many opportunities are
solely for law students. The focus on the law program allows students to receive an
individualized education. This specific focus on an individuals strengths and weaknesses
provides one with the means to succeed above and beyond. Programs like the academic success
program have the following purposes; to provide direct, skills-focused academic support for
students desiring additional help, to provide resources for, law school success, for all students
(pepperdine.edu.) These programs prepare potential law students in a way that will help
maximize learning opportunities. In the overall duration of this program one is set to learn
logical thinking and analysis of arguments, close reading and analysis of texts, and effective
writing and speaking (pepperdine.edu.) These elements within the program are here to ensure a
students success in law school and all areas of post-graduate life.
Furthermore, attending Pepperdine University sets one up for success in post-baccalaureate
life because of its exquisite resources available on campus. The campus itself is very large, over
830-acres, but its what is within the campus that makes it special. The library offers many free
recourses to students including; earplugs, coffee, headphones, 8 reservable study rooms for all
law students, study aids covering numerous course topics, and required textbooks for all law
classes (pepperdine.edu.) The many free recourses available help to provide a firm foundation of
learning. It shows that the university puts forth an effort to help students in all the ways it can.
College students especially can benefit from free services provided and extra course help. The
library has flexible hours everyday generally between 7:00 am and 1:00 am. Along with the
many resources offered at the library, Pepperdine has many other buildings on campus designed
to help students. The Pepperdine Career Service Center provides students with access to meet
with an industry specialist for internship and job search support (pepperdine.edu.) This four-step

program involves learning more about yourself, researching your options, trying new
experiences, and creating a strategic plan to reach your professional goals (pepperdine.edu.)
This program offers many services that focuses specifically on furthering life after Pepperdine. It
is crucial because making a plan of action for post-graduate life ensures that one has options and
knows all of his/her possible opportunities. This program isn't just for current students of
Pepperdine but it also has a branch specific to alumni. It is designed to build your network, focus
your job search, improve your resume and prepare for interviews (pepperdine.edu.) If one prefers
to have a more one-on-one approach the program has that too. Students are able to meet with
career specialist, alumni or potential employers to broaden their careers exploration process.
Meeting one-on-one can be significantly important to finding a specialized career path that fits
an individuals needs. Finding a way to incorporate a students personal academics and individual
mindset into a current job position will increase the overall learned values from Pepperdine.
In conclusion, attending Pepperdine University sets one up for success in postbaccalaureate life because of its stimulating learning environment, its exceptional law program,
and the exquisite resources available on campus. The university offers a broad variety of
academics, opportunities on and off campus and the right materials for being successful.
