PAID INTERNSHIPS
 Time Warner Cable – 2010 Internship Program ($12/hr)
The TWC Internship Experience Program offers students a work experience that will create a bridge
between their classroom experiences and possible career choices. The summer program offers interns
$12.00 hourly wage during an 8-week working period. 40-hour work week with possible participation
in meetings, tours and other activities designed to broaden their perspective of the cable industry
while offering valuable work experience. Students are encouraged to seek academic credit for their
internship. (Please note: students are responsible for arranging such credit and should determine the
specific procedures at his/her academic institution. Exciting Internships available in Marketing,
Finance, Accounting, Construction, Public Affairs and more. Must be at least 18-years-old. Currently
enrolled in an accredited college. Must have completed first year of college before start of internship
and plan to continue college education in the fall following participation in this internship program.
Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Must be able to participate in this internship program for 8-
consecutive weeks, starting no later than June 18, 2010. For a full list of available internships and

 LA County West Vector – Borne Disease Control District Intern ($12.32-15.26/hr)


Under the direction of management, the summer interns will be trained in and perform in-the-field
professional entomology, vector ecology, and laboratory work related to the surveillance and control
of invertebrate vectors and vector-borne diseases associated with mosquitoes (West Nile virus), ticks
(Lyme disease), biting blackflies, midges, red imported fire ants, Africanized and European
honeybees and other stinging, biting, or nuisance insects and arthropods. Hands-on, in-the-field work
will constitute approximately 80% of the weekly activities and laboratory/testing procedures and
associated work will constitute the other 20% of the weekly activities. Some interns may also be
involved with the evaluation, development, and creation of more effective public health information
tools on vector-borne diseases from a social psychology perspective. Interns will learn to setup, bait
& retrieve adult mosquito traps; take blood samples from and maintain sentinel flocks for West Nile
virus testing; make routine microscopic arthropod identifications and counts; be trained in and assist
in laboratory testing procedures for West Nile virus, Lyme disease, and others; enter, process and
interpret data and findings; survey and monitor sources of vector breeding (e.g. lagoons, marshes,
ponds, streams, hiking trails, catch basins, residential premises, swimming pools, etc.); identify
vectors in all stages of development; treat areas when necessary with appropriate equipment or
biological control agents; evaluate success of the treatment and monitoring; and learn integrated
vector-borne disease control and management techniques. Junior or above status required to apply.
Must be registered as a full-time student in good standing with a minimum status of Junior or higher
at the end of the Spring 2010 semester and possess a 3.0 GPA or higher. A bachelor's degree is not
required to apply, but graduate students will be assessed accordingly. Compensation is commensurate
with experience & educational status. A copy of the applicant’s transcripts is to be provided upon
request. Interns need to possess a valid California driver's license. License must be maintained
throughout the internship. Interns shall maintain a good driving record and must be insurable with the
District's insurance carrier. Interns shall provide a DMV driving record printout upon request. This is
a limited 12-week summer internship from May 24, 2010 through August 13, 2010 and not an offer
of permanent or continued work or employment at this time. Interns will have at-will status. The
District retains the right to terminate interns from their positions without cause at any time. Send

 UNX – Intern ($20/hr)


UNX is an independent trading technology firm and agency brokerage providing advanced electronic
trading and software solutions to institutional investors. We are located in Burbank, CA. UNX is
looking for a student intern to investigate new technologies that may prove useful to our firm. We are
looking for students with experience programming in C# and the Microsoft .NET platform. Strong
communication and writing skills. Pursuing a BS or MS in computer science or related technical

 Target – Executive Intern


The objective of the Executive Internship is to give you an overview of Target Stores’ Operations and
company programs while strengthening your leadership skills, enabling you to be an effective

receive support of all areas within a store as you develop your leadership skills in our three part

 Port of Long Beach – Transportation Planning Intern


The Transportation Planning Intern is an Unclassified (Non-Civil Service) position usually used to
employ college students in engineering, environmental and maritime/trade programs. The
Transportation Planning Intern performs duties appropriate to the area of study; work is usually
performed under the guidance of experienced personnel and may include engineering or planning
work, research and analytical projects, statistical compilation, communications and community
outreach, promotional activities, and general administrative assignments. Intern will assist in the
review and preparation of traffic and land use studies for Port facilities. Assist with reviewing and
updating Planning documents and programs. Analyze regulatory and legislative issues. Utilize
Synchro, TransCAD, and GIS. Enrollment in an accredited college or university with at least senior
standing. A major in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Transportation Planning/Engineering or
Urban and Regional Planning or related field is preferred. Familiarity with traffic engineering and
transportation engineering/planning principles and methodologies (including computer software
applications) is desired. The applicant should possess a valid California driver's license. Interns work

 Los Angeles County Arts Commission – Summer Internship Program ($3500 stipend)
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors established the Arts Internship Program (which
provides internships for nonprofit performing, presenting, literary, and municipal arts organizations)
as a companion program to the Getty Multicultural Internship Program (which provides internships to
museums and visual arts organizations). The purpose of the County's program is to provide
undergraduate students with meaningful on-the-job training and experience in working in nonprofit
arts organizations, while assisting arts organizations to develop future arts leaders. This program is a
10 week paid summer internship (40 hours/week) for 125 full-time undergraduate college students.
Students are paid $350/week to work with a nonprofit arts organization within Los Angeles County.
Nonprofits include various performing, presenting, and literary arts organizations, and local agencies.
Interns also participate in several educational events. Undergraduates and graduating seniors may
apply. Students must have completed at least one semester of college by June 2010, and be currently
enrolled (full-time) in a community college or a four year university. Graduating seniors are eligible
only if they are to complete their undergraduate degree by September 1st, 2010. Students must
either reside in Los Angeles County or attend school in Los Angeles County. Candidates are
welcome from all areas of undergraduate study and are not required to have demonstrated a previous

 Bottega Louie Restaurant & Gourmet Market – Marketing & Events Intern
This is the perfect opportunity for someone interested in marketing, catering, events and publicity.
Intern will conduct market research and manage & build spreadsheets. Manage inventory & other
equipment. Fulfill orders. Deliver and serve food and products. Assist with donation requests. Write
press releases. Personal shopping. Event planning assistance. Aid in building procedures. Menu
creation. Networking. Develop relationship with local businesses, hotels and residents and much
more. We are seeking applicants with a high level of integrity and a strong desire to succeed.
Applicants should be ambitious and possess a strong work ethic. Restaurant/Hospitality experience.
Detail oriented. Exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills –

 RIO Company – Acquisitions Intern (1-2 Openings)

 Alchemy Entertainment – Intern


Internship at Alchemy Entertainment. We produced the Warner Bros./New Line feature 17 AGAIN.
We are also currently in development on several other features. Our management/production
company is looking for interns to help out around the office. Responsibilities include but not limited
to occasional movie/TV set visits, assisting the Development Executive, reading scripts and writing
coverage, answering phones and daily office tasks. Must be enrolled in an accredited college or
