Poison Gas
Brief Description: A gas that blinded or
choked their victims that would bring agonizing
pain and injuries to the opposition
How it Revolutionized Warfare: Four percent
of deaths were caused by poisonous gas but its
effect diminish later because of the ability of gas
masks of affecting the opponent.

Zeppelins

U-Boats

In 1915, Germans applied large gas-filled


balloons known as zeppelins. They used these to
bomb the English. However, planes were later
equipped with machine guns making the zeppelins less effective.

Submarines proved to be very effective during


the war. They were known as U-Boats and the
Germans applied these weapons to the allies. The
U Boats were able to destroy merchant ships
bringing supplies to Britain. By sending under
water bombs.

Who Used it: Germany began using poison


gas in 1915. Soon after, the allies began using
poison gas.

Convoys
In order to keep up with Germans
U-Boats, the Allies used convoys. This was a
merchant ship protected by war ships. Submarine
warfare eventually brought United States into the
world war.

A machine gun was a weapons used to fire continuous and rapid bullets on an opponent. This
was very effective because it could mow down
several of soldiers at once. In trench warfare, it
made it difficult to advance to no mans land because of the machine gun. Machine gun took
several people to operate and was used by all
sides during the war.

The airplane played a pivotal role in the world


war. The machine gun was eventually equipped
into the aircraft. While men were battling on the
ground through trench warfare, it was crucial for
the men in the skies to provide a break through
and force air superiority on the enemy. The airplane was a weapon used by both sides during
the world war.
