Student Interview Reflection
During the second week of my clinical experience, I interviewed a student in my class. I
asked the student 5 questions. I choose this student because I asked my cooperating teacher what
candidates would be up for the challenge and she offered a few students who she thought would
give me some great answers. And she did!
It surprised me when she said that recess was the least favorite part of the day. Most kids
love recess and anticipate that part of the day the most. Her reasoning behind not liking recess is
very true and I should have asked her what could take the place of recess instead. Another
answer that surprised me were the answers to what makes a good teacher? I asked this question
because I would like to know what the students think the qualities are of a good teacher. At first
she said Dont be stressed, I said who shouldnt be stressed she said the students. I was
confused and said A good teacher cant be stressful to the students and she nodded. I laughed
so hard because I did not put into perspective that children this age could be stressed too. I stress
about school and work but they can be stressed as well. I think as teachers sometime, we get to
where we think all children do is school and that not right, they apart of clubs and groups and
sports and those can be stressful too. We as teachers have to be able to understand our students
and know that their lives dont solely revolve around school and homework.
