Inquiry Question #2
The Holocaust was a difficult and harsh time for the Jews. The Warsaw Ghetto was an
impact to Poland. The Jews were disliked by the rest of the people, especially Adolf Hitlers
army. Over sixty million Jews were killed by extermination camps. Hitler sent Jews to
concentration camps with were made by the Nazis and was prison for Jews. The Jewish people
were harshly treated by making them do work at the concentration camps with no pay
whatsoever. Although there were over 10,000 camps, only six were death camps, many were
either transit or labor camps. Auschwitz-Birkenau was the largest, although two separate camps,
they were very close to one another and one-sixth of all Jews brought were killed. The Jews were
treated badly at concentration camps; they smuggled food into the ghetto, and were killed for no
reason.
The Jews were treated under terrible conditions at the warsaw ghettos. The ghettos
surrounded by huge walls made themselves. There were guards on the outside of the the ghettos
just in case if any jew escaped. If a jew escaped, he or she would immediately be executed. The
living conditions were unbearable, and the ghetto was extremely overcrowded (evidence
1). Jews were treated unfairly and the rest of the people turned against them. The jews only
received its inhabitants were forced to live on 180 grams of bread a day, 220 grams of sugar a
month, 1 kg. jam and kg. of honey. On average, between six to seven people lived in one
room and the daily food rations were equivalent of one-tenth of the required minimum

daily calorie intake (Evidence 1). Jews ate poorly and died of hunger. More than 400,000 jews
were put into the ghettos and the living conditions were poor. The jews lived in half of the city of
warsaw. Typically several families lived in one apartment, People had to rely on the nazis
to give them the little things they could have (Evidence 1). Jews were treated poorly at the
warsaw ghetto and many of them died because of hygiene and hunger.
The jews also had their ways to get their own food. They used children, normally seven
to eight children would sneak out and get some food.
