How to use tool radius compensation

in 3 axes operations

1. Choose the cutting side of the tool (left/right) by setting the gost tool
in Alphacam.

2. Create the tool path choosing "G41/G42 on Tool Centre" compensation


in the Alphacam dialog box (shown in the picture below).

3. Set Tool Lead-In/Out (arc and line) as shown in the picture below.

4. Save the ISO code and import it to Pitagora.


Bacci post processor automatically set TR value and write G41/G42 code.
Tool radius - TR = mm of tool radius compensation.
In the picture below: 8 - 8 = 0 mm

Ex. A: in the picture below: 8 - 12 = - 4 mm


It means 4 mm of tool radius compensation inside the wood.

Ex. B: in the picture below: 8 - 4 = + 4 mm.


It means 4 mm of tool radius compensation inside the wood.

How to use tool radius compensation


in 4 and 5 axes operations

1. Save the Iso code and import it to Pitagora.


Bacci post processor doesn't write TR and G41/G42 codes (see picture
below). It means 0 mm of tool radius compensation.

2. write manually TR value and G41/G42 code (see picture below).


Tool radius (in Pitagora) - TR = mm of compensation.

Ex. A: in the picture below: 8 - 12 = - 4 mm.


It means 4 mm of tool radius compensation inside the wood.

Ex. B: in the picture below: 8 - 4 = + 4 mm.


It means 4 mm of tool radius compensation outside the wood.
