Dear Hiring Staff,

This letter is in regards to potential openings at your middle school or high school. I am
interested in earning a social studies or math teaching position with an opportunity to coach
wrestling, football, and/or track & field. Furthermore, my previous experience has afforded me
the opportunity to teach diverse groups of learners and develop my classroom management
skills. I want to earn the opportunity to fulfill a mentorship role in the community that made me
the person I am. My qualifications paired with my Mid-Michigan roots make me an ideal
candidate for your middle school or high school.
My experience has allowed me the pleasure of teaching Math, World History, and US History.
From these experiences, I developed my ability to manage a classroom and learned the
importance of establishing daily routines. From the outset of the semester, I made it clear to
my students how our classroom would operate in order to maximize learning and create a
coherent and cohesive learning environment. As a result, downtime was minimized and my
students knew what to do at all times. Moreover, I learned and implemented a variety of
approaches to differentiating my lessons to meet my students learning needs. The same
lesson, taught in different styles, technological mediums, and viewpoints can reach many
different learners, therefore maximizing student success.
Outside of the classroom, I have always promoted positive values through sports, most
notably, wrestling, track & field, and football. I was elected captain of each of the fore
mentioned varsity sports while at North Branch High School. I received All-State Wrestling and
All-Conference football honors at North Branch and earned All American wrestling honors while
attending Mott Community College. I can bring technical finesse to these sports, while
encouraging teamwork and leadership skills beyond the walls of the classroom. As my
personal education continued, I was involved in a program to combine after-school tutoring
and wrestling clinics to underprivileged youth in inner-city Flint, Michigan. Athletics are an
excellent way to establish desirable qualities in youth, introduce them to personal
accountability, as well as distract them from illegal and counterproductive activities.
Since my graduation from the University of Michigan, I have been given the opportunity to
support my family by means of the oil field. Although it was not the teaching opportunity I
sought, it provided me a platform to test my education in a different field. I had to
communicate and collaborate with people from all different backgrounds. I authored standard
work instructions and provided training to less informed new employees. My time in the oil
field served its purpose and now I am blessed to pursue my passion for teaching.
I thank you for taking the time to review my application materials. I look forward to the
opportunity to meet in person and discuss my qualifications in further depth. I can be reached
at your convenience and look forward to speaking with you.
Kind Regards,
Patrick Martin McNulty
