9-12 Grade
Objectives:
After today the students will be more comfortable with the music we have.
The students will learn the how to balance and blend better.
Materials/Resources needed:
Baton, music scores
Anticipatory Set:
4 minutes for announcements
7 minutes for Remington Warm-up
10 minutes for the slow piece
15 minutes on the hard piece
4 minutes playing a chorale at the end
5 minutes to put instruments away
Objective/Purpose:
By the end of this lesson the students should feel more comfortable with the A
section of the hard piece. They will have focused on pitch and balance during
the chorale and hopefully become more aware of each other.
Input:
It will be essential for the students to know what things need to be done to
balance and blend better. I will demonstrate and explain these skills to the
students.
Model:
I will explain to them how they need to be perfectly in tune for things to blend well
and explain how the lows need to support the band for a better balance.
Check for Understanding:
I will ask questions to check for understanding and have them play to check.
Guided Practice:
I will give the students certain parts in their music to be worked on and check for
improvements next time.
Closure:
The chorale at the end will be used to check that they are working to balance and
blend better.
