Ski & Snowboard Club

Killington Overnight Trip
We the Ski & Snowboard club proposes to go on a ski trip to Killington Ski Resort in
Killington, Vermont for a weekend in November. We would leave campus after class on
Friday December 5st, 2015 and return on Sunday December 7, 2015. This leaves us with
two nights and one day of skiing. We will book hotels directly through the mountain, and
we plan to stay at the Killington Grand Hotel, which is a slope side resort. This trip is
offered for $155 per night. For the two-night stay, each room will cost $310 and sleeps
two. The cost for each student will be approximately $155.00 for two nights and two lift
tickets. We would like to offer the trip to 20 students, making the final cost $3,100 for
lodging and lift tickets. To reduce costs, we will be carpooling in personal vehicles. We
predict to spend a total of $418.87 on gas. Because we cannot predict the price of fuel in
the future, or the amount of vehicles we will need, we will be setting a base price of
$450. This leaves the grand total of this trip at $4,550. This cost will be split between
students and SGA respectively.

Cost Analysis:
Total Cost of Killington Overnight: $4,550
Cost Breakdown:
Cost of lodging + Lift Tickets: $3,100
Travel Expense: $450
Food: $0*
Expected Student Contribution: $77.50/20 Students - $1,550
Money Requested: $2,000
* Students will pay for food expenses on their own as needed.

Sunday River Overnight Trip

We the Ski & Snowboard club proposes to go on a ski trip to Sunday River in Bethel,
Maine during Presidents Day weekend. We would leave campus after class on February
12th, 2016 and return on Monday February 15th, 2016. This leaves us with three nights
and two days of skiing. We will book hotels directly through the mountain, and we plan
to stay at the Grand Summit Hotel, which is a slope side resort with free breakfast. This
trip is offered for $155 per night. For the three-night stay, each room will cost $465 and
sleeps two. The cost for each student will be approximately 232.50 for three nights and
two lift tickets. We would like to offer the trip to 20 students, making the final cost
$4,650 for lodging and lift tickets. To reduce costs, we will be carpooling in personal
vehicles. On our trip in 2014, we took five vehicles and spent a total of $418.87 on gas.
Because we cannot predict the price of fuel in the future, or the amount of vehicles we
will need, we will be setting a base price of $450. This leaves the grand total of this trip

Wachusett UPASS
The Ski & Snowboard Club proposes to purchase Wachusett UPASSs for each of
its interested members. The Wachusett UPASS is a pass available for undergraduate
students, which are valid for access to the mountain 7 nights a week from 4-10pm,
weekdays 9-4, and $15 off lift tickets on weekend days. Wachusett Mountain is located
just under 50 minutes from Nichols Campus, many club members go there at least 2 or 3
nights a week to ski or snowboard. In past years students have purchased the passes on

their own but not everyone involved in the club has been able to afford the full $199.
This year we wanted to make sure that every interested member is able to get a pass. We
are asking SGA allocate a total of $1,500 for the purchase of the UPASS for our members
(based on a 15 name roster go get a UPASS).
Cost Analysis:
Total Cost of UPASS: $3,000
Cost Break down:

Transportation
We the ski club intend to have practices at Wachusett Mountain and travel to other
mountains during our season. In order to do this we need transportation. We have
inquired about a 15-passenger van from Enterprise-Rent-A-Car that would allow club
members to travel to and from the mountain for weekly trips as well as take us on the
proposed day trips. There are 10-weeks to our season (January-March). This means 10trips to Wachusett and 4 day trips (one every other week). The 14 rentals for the van
($159/day) would total $2,226.00 according to an Enterprise-rent-a-car quote.

Cost Break down:

GoPro HERO3+ Silver Edition Action Camcorder

We Ski & Snowboard Club would like to take recruiting for the club to the next
level, we proposes to purchase a GoPro HERO 3 for the use of SGA. This will allow us
to make videos of our experiences so that we can share them with the future generations
of Ski and Snowboard club members. This could be displayed in many places for people
to see. The first place that our GoPro videos can be displayed: at the club fair for first
years to see, in Fels Student center at our annual Christmas pictures with Santa, as
promotion for the club, and at our other events. We are asking SGA allocate a total of
$300 for the purchase of the GoPro Hero3 for our members and future member alike. Not
only would this promote students to join the club, getting students involved, but it would
also promote club members to join in on the trips. If purchased, we would use for our
purposes and during all other times have it available for other SGA events or to be loaned
out through CSI.

the club recognition around campus perhaps gaining interest of potential members, it
would also represent the college on our trips. As with all apparel, this cost will be split
between students and SGA respectively.

Events
Pictures with Santa
We intend to have a member of the club dress up as Santa and allow students to
take pictures with him. We will hold this event in the Fels Student Center so that we may
play footage of the ski club on the large screen to attract new club members, get veteran
club members excited for our trips, and put the student body in the holiday spirit.
Snowman Building Contest
We intend to have a snowman building contest on campus to promote the winter
spirit. Best snowman will win a prize!
Sled with the Ski Club!
We intend to host events where we sled down the hills on campus. This will give
students an activity to participate in when classes get cancelled or they are snowed in. We

would need to purchase sleds; probably 5 at $19.99 a piece for a total cost of $99.95.
Once purchased these sleds can be used by students, loaned out through CSI.

Cost Break down:
