Al-Hadith
AlQudsi

Al-Qudsi comes from the word

Alquds which means purity
and freedom from errors and
imperfections.

Al-Hadith Al-Qudsi is defined as the

divine communication whose
revelation is not part of the Quranic
Miracle.
Al-Hadith Al-Qudsi is from Allah, from
the view point of meaning , but at
the same time , it is the actual
wording of the Prophet (pbuh).

It is what Allah (SWT) has

communicated to the prophet (pbuh)
through revelations or in dreams.
Allahs Messenger informed others of
its meaning in his own words.
Accordingly, the Quran is superior to
Al-Hadith Al-Qudsi, because it is the
actual word of God.

Differences between the

Quran and Al-Hadith AlQudsi

There are some points of

differences between the Quran
and Al-Hadith Al-Qudsi.
# 1- The Quran is a divine
miracle, which was revealed to
challenge humankind, this does
not apply to Al-Hadith Al-Qudsi.

# 2- Salat is not valid without

the recitation of parts of the
Quran, this is not true in the
case of Al-Hadith Al-Qudsi.
# 3 One who rejects the Quran
is regarded as a kafir, this does
not hold true in the case of AlHadith Al-Qudsi.

# 4 The whole Quran was

communicated to the Prophet (pbuh)
through the agency of Angel Jibreel
(a.s) , this does not apply to AlHadith Al-Qudsi.
# 5 The Quran can not be touched
without Tahara (the condition of
bodily purity as prescribed by
Shariah) and this condition does not
apply to Al-Hadith Al-Qudsi.

# 6 Every word of the Quran is

Mutawatir (Ensured by many lines of
transmission) or ( Narrated by a big
numbers of transmitters , that it
becomes impossible for them to
agree about a lie) . This does not
hold true for Al- Hadith Al-Qudsi ,
which could be Mutawatir, Saheeh,
Hassan or Daeef (Weak)

Reciting the Quran is an act of

Ibadah (Worship), but reciting
Al-Hadith Al-Qudsi is not.

Differences between AlHadith Al-Qudsi and AlHadith

Al-nabawi
# 1- Al-Hadith Al-Qudsi is ascribed to Allah

(SWT) because its meaning is from God, but

Al-Hadith Al-nabawi is ascribed to the
Prophet (pbuh) , because its meaning and
wording are from the Messenger (pbuh).
# 2- Al-Hadith Al-Qudsi was communicated
to Allahs Messenger through revelation
(Wahy), but Al-Hadith Al-nabawi could be an
independent judgment or reasoning by
Allahs Messenger. If he (pbuh) does a
mistake, he will be commanded to correct
it.
