The year this was published was in 1940. I just know that the story doesn't really have anything to do with the time except for the moral of the story but James Thurber was known for his humor and cartoons that were of a funny and dark humor. 2. There is a reference like things are obvious to see like The Wolf looked like the metro Goldwyn lion and he would use automatic as a weapon because it was during WW2. 3. The overall message is that little girls are smarter than before like in the other

While you Read Questions The Little Girl and The Wolf 1. The Characters in this version of (LRRH) are (LRRH) and The Wolf. The little girl is polite obedient and fearless. She is not afraid of the wolf and she is also very smart knowledgeable street smart and book smart. The wolf think that he can trick the little girl the wolf is polite and he is not so smart. 2. There is a reference like things are obvious to see like the wolf looked like the metro Goldwyn lion a lion is ferocious and no one wants to be in danger and does not look like a person like Calvin Coolidge who was known for his kindness. I also think he would use automatic as a weapon because it was during WW2. 3. The overall message is that little girls are smarter than before like in the other versions of (LRRH). 4. I would say what is unique about this version is that she kept her distance from the Wolf and my personal favorite she drew out the automatic and wasted him. While you Read Questions
The False Grandmother 1. The characters in this version of (LRRH) are the mother who seems to very busy and limited on supplies and demanding. Then there is the Little Girl she seems to be prepared and she is very kind it shows by her preparing a snack for her friends along the road. Then there is the Jordan River that is very kind to her but requires things to let her pass. Then there is the rake gate that is in need of I guess a type of oiling for its shingles. Then there is the ogress, she seems like she want to eat the Little Girl but she thinks it will be easy to get the girl she thinks that she has the girl trapped. It seems as if she doesn't put too much effort into catching the Little Girl. 2. Yes there is a reference to something religious the Jordan River as it says it lowered the water for the girl to cross. The same happened in the bible with the prophet Elisha he commanded the river to stop for him so he can cross. The gate on the other hand is asking for bread with oil possibly a similitude to the last supper and the gate can resemble like the death I suppose crossing from earth to the afterlife where it seems kind of scary with the ogress but then the girl escapes death and crosses the gate then the river, again these are my thoughts Im not entirely sure. 3. The overall message I guess you would say is that if you help others and nice to others they will help you out and be nice to you. And not to look for riches and vanity as the ogress did. 4. What I would say that is unique about this version is that there is a river that helps her and also a gate that helps her but she gave them something in the beginning. And the reasons that the ogress gave to the Little Girl of why she was so hairy. Before you Read Questions Goldflower and the Bear 1. 1. The characters in this version of (LRRH) are the mother who is
leaving in a hurry to tend to her sister probably and leaves the kids alone but gives them instruction. Then there is the brother is young dumb and possibly more scared of things than his sister. There is the girl who is not afraid of anything and is very smart. Then there is the bear that wants to eat everything and is very greedy and wants it all but then only get a pear then a spear in his mouth. The bear is not really that smart. 2. I cant seem to find a reference to something. 3. The overall message is not to be greedy and to be satisfied with what you can get. 4. I think what is unique about this is that the setting is different and that there is a bear instead of a wolf there is a brother involved also that she kills the bear with a spear. The characters in this version are obviously the three little pigs then there is the wolf then Miss Hood. The first pig as it says is a fool because he built his house out of straw it shows that he was religious because before the Wolfie blew down his house he began to pray. The second pig was not so smart either he built his house out of twigs or it shows him as a businessman trying to make a deal but the wolf did not accept. The next pig that built his house of bricks is not afraid until the wolf got smart and then he called Miss Hood. Miss Hood is not afraid and acts like dealing with wolves is not so scary. And the wolf is just hungry and wants to eat till hes full. 2. There are references of prayer so religion is involved and business but how business you can be backstabbed. 3. The overall message I would say is not to make business with people who seem violent and mean or as sweet as Miss Hood. 4. What is unique about this version is that The Three Little Pigs were involved.
