KWL Chart for each woman (Johnnie Carr, Virginia Foster Durr, Coretta Scott King, Viola Gregg Liuzzo, Juilet
Rosa Parks, and Amelia Boynton Robinson.)

Research specific woman and specific aspect of her life in order to represent on a quilt square
Quilt Piece- see attached rubric

Resources (textbooks/page numbers, trade books, magazines, newspapers, etc.)

Bulletin board paper or scrap piece of material for quilt border

-Use the following 7 women to make 21
cards: Johnnie Carr, Virginia Foster Durr,
Coretta Scott King, Viola Gregg Liuzzoo,
Juliette Hampton Morgan, Rosa Parks, and
Amelia Robinson. For each woman, their
should be a card labeled: Early lifebiographical and educational information,
Contribution to the movement, and later
years-honors, memorials.
-Students will select a card from the pile of
21 cards.
-The card will be their assigned woman and
specific aspect.
-As a class, make a KWL chart on each
woman.
-Facilitate student discussions
-Students will choose the woman they want
