b. Rihana, production manager at the headquarters of Bakery Products Corporation (BPC),
is developing a. monthly shipping plan for the Tanjung Malim and Balakong
‘manufacturing plants to follow next year. These plants manufacture specialized industrial
ovens that are shipped to five regional warehouses. Raihana has developed these
estimated requirements and transportation costs (RM/unit) as shown in Table 1 below:

c.. An office supply store open 5 days a week must determine the best inventory policy for
boxes of copier paper. Weekly demand is nearly constant at 250 boxes and when orders
are placed, and then entire shipment arrives at once, The cost per box is RM22 and the
inventory holding cost is 30%. Orders are placed at a cost of RM40 each; including
preparation time and communication charges, and the lead time is 2 days.

b. Scott and Associates, Inc. is an accounting firm that has four new clients. Three Project
leaders will be assigned to three clients. Based on the different backgrounds and
experiences of the leaders, the various leader-client assignments differ in terms of
projected completion times. The possible assignments and the estimated completion times
in days are given in Table 2.

‘a. Two advertising media are being considered for promotion of a product. Radio ads
cost RM400 each, while newspaper ads cost RM600 each. The total budget is
RM7.200 per week. The total number of ads should be at least 15, with at least 2 of
each type, and there should be no more than 19 ads in total. The company does not
‘want the number of newspaper ads to exceed the number of radio ads by more than 25
percent. Each newspaper ad reaches 6,000 people, 50 percent of whom will respond;
while each radio ad reaches 2,000 people, 20 percent of whom will respond. The
company wishes to reach as many respondents as possible while meeting all the
constraints stated, Develop the appropriate LP model. (8 Marks)
