Working Safely at Myer

Information Statement
At Myer, all of our Team Members are required to work in a variety of departments such as
ladies fashion, toys, luggage, cosmetics and electrical to name a few. The type of stock
handled in each department is different, and therefore the physical demands such as lifting and
carrying will vary. However, to work as a Team Member in any department, you must be able
to safely perform the inherent requirements of the role, by being capable of performing the
following tasks:

Constantly (67 100% of the time)


Standing and Walking
Gripping and/or Grabbing;
Frequently (34 66% of the time)
Lift and carry loads between 1 10 kgs
Fine hand coordination.
Work at varying levels from floor to overhead height.*
Occasionally (1 33% of the time)
Climbing steps/stairs/ladders
Looking up & down
Working with one or both hands above shoulder height*
Reaching forwards >30 cm from the body
Pushing and pulling stock on roll cages and trolleys
Lift and carry loads between 11 20 kgs.**

* If required to work above shoulder height or at low levels, Team Members are trained to use
equipment such as safety steps, ladders and garment poles and to use appropriate techniques
to use safe spinal posture.
** In some cases, loads in excess of 10 kg are handled by Team Members. In these instances
Team Members are trained to use a two-person lift or manual handling equipment.
