SKITTLE PROJECT

In this project the object of this is to create and use the tools that one student
learns in the introduction to statistics. We as a class gather information individually
as we each purchase a regular sized original Skittles bag where we sort the colors
into five different colors, where we then all combined our answers we each
received. This information then was given to us all where we were to create several
different types of charts from Pie charts to boxplot charts where we are to interpret
the results as well to get the data sorted out and to see what exactly if we get the
same result on our own compared to the classes results.

These charts that were created from al the classes results show just about
the same results as do mine. Some students got a different result from others, but
for the most part there is a huge gap from skittles in a bag which could cause for
outliers be seen in the results from everyones charts that are displayed.

In this set of data shown it shows that the data is skewed to the right. So
therefore it is not evenly distributed and candy companies just throw different colors
into the bag and it shows also there is no method to their madness. This did not
show what I expected to see. I thought I would see a more evenly distributed colors
per bag of skittles. The mean of my data does show that the class was very close to
one another while I had 59 skittles total and 1580 skittles total in the class. I had
about 28% worth or statistics to show that I could have had the same results myself.
Reflection:
There are many graphs that both show categorical and quantitative data.
Types of graphs that are better used for categorical data are all of those shown in
this project like, the pie chart and the Pareto chart. Where charts with pictures and
graphs that do not start at the zero are those that are not the best to use for either
types of charts. There are many calculations that one can use when trying to figure
out things from quantitative data like 5-number summary, histograms, and
Standard deviation. Quantitative data you can use mean, median and mode
calculations and many others.

Confidence Interval Estimates

The general Purpose and meaning of the confidence interval is to construct
an estimate of the true value of a population proportion and should know how to do
this along with interoperate the results.

Hypothesis Tests:
The general Purpose and meaning of the hypothesis testing is to help test a claim
about the property of a population whole proving a hypothesis to be rejected or fail
to reject the hypothesis.

Reflection:
The conditions for constructing a confidence interval in order to be able to deemed
as valid in order to continue the process. The first condition for the confidence
level is that the sample must be random. Second, conditions for the binomial
distribution is satisfied along with at least 5 success and 5 failures. While the
Hypothesis test does not have any specific conditions in order to construct then by
obvious things in order to solve the equations to get to the reject or fail to reject
answer. Possible errors while reaching my answers are that I put in the wrong
numbers in the wrong areas or vice versa. As well as someone gave the wrong info
to the rest of the class. Sampling method could be improved if we did again another
bag of skittles per person to see how close the numbers we got the first round are
close to the second round. Some conclusions that I have drawn from this project are
that we all will get different answers from most of this project due to everyones
interpretation on the results. Also that I think we would get better results if we redid
the skittle counting with another bag of candies per person.
