MAJOR INTERNSHIP ACCOMPLISHMENT:
Situation: Every year Chi Omega hosts a weekend for the moms of all of the active members to come
to Kansas. In the past, women have complained because the moms weekend only consisted of one
event on Saturday night.
Task: This year I was tasked with coming up with a new, refreshed way to approach moms weekend so
that it actually spanned the whole weekend. I also was responsible for arranging the food menus, dcor
and photo booth.
Action: In order to resolve the complaint of only having one moms day festivity, I decided to add
another event. I lead a team in designing a theme, creating a menu and arranging entertainment for a
Mocktail Party on a Friday night at our sorority house for over 200 people. The following Saturday I
planned a moms day brunch with a silent auction and live raffle portion. Not only did I have to do the
typical planning for the brunch, I also had to collaborate with local businesses to receive donations for
the silent auction and live raffle. I also arranged for a mother daughter canvas painting session in
downtown Lawrence.

Response: I received copious amounts of positive feedback about the changes I choose to make.
Additionally, we ended up raising over $10,000 during the silent auction and live raffle that will now go
back to the sorority.
