Competency 011: The teacher understands the importance of family

involvement in childrens education and know how to interact and

communicate effectively with parents.
Encourages families to be involved in the education of their children. Interacts appropriately
with family members and understands that not all families are the same. Sets family conferences
to show where the student is at in their education.
Examples:

Hold conferences with parent/ guardian to show the progress that their student has made
over the course of the class.
Send letters, both paper and email, to family members to let them know what is going on
in the class.
