3D Modeling Class Activity: All CAD files and word document are due by the end of
class.
Student Name: Shane Holbrook
Create the part shown using 3D sketch

(a)

(b)

(c)

1. Steps for (a)

Tool used: 3D sketch, 2D sketch, and Swept boss/Base
Select 3D sketch and change to Isometric view
Use line tool, follow the axis as labeled
o While sketching the lines, press TAB key to switch to other
planes/directions

Use smart dimension to add all dimensions

Add the sketch fillets: 0.500 fillets to all the intersections

o Enable the Keep constrained corner check box (Maintains the
virtual intersection point if the vertex has dimensions or
relations)
Exit the 3D Sketch (very important): the sept boss/base command
is only available when the sketch pencil is off.
Select right plane, use 2D sketch sketch a circle using the origin as the
center
o The Sweep profile should be pierced or Coincident with the
sweep path

Choose Swept Boss/Base

o Select the circle as sweep profile
o Select the 3D sketch as Sweep path.

2. Post imagine of (b) isometric view. You can decide the size and shape of
Sweep profile (except circle).

3. (c) is an exercise demonstrates how several 3D sketches can be created,

combine into 1 continuous composite curve, and used as a sweep path.
Tools: 2D sketch, Curves/Helix and spiral, 3D sketch, reference
geometry/planes, Swept boss/base
Creating a 2D sketch in top plane: 1.00 dia. Circle and 2 centerlines

Creating a Helix
o Pitch: 0.25 in
o Revolution: 10
o Starting angle: 0 deg.
Creating the 1st 3D sketch, add 0.25 fillets to all corners

Save multiple copies of your sketch. You may need to start from this
point later.
Combining the 2 sketches into 1 curve: curve/composite
Creating a new work plane: reference geometry plane
Sketching the sweep profile
Sweeping the profile along the path.
Please post imagine of (c) here:

4. Lets add more 3D sketch to problem 3. Create the part using 3D sketch.

5. Create a stuff which could be found in dairy life using 3D sketch.
