Exam-1
Total Points: 20
Duration: 2 Hours
Shane Holbrook
1. (10 points) Model the part shown below in Solid Edge. Dimension your model. Submit
appropriate screenshots. Dimensions are in inches.

(Dimensions do not show up well they ended up piling on top of each other I am
including the solidedge file along with my exam so you can double check my
dimensions.)

2. (2 points) What is a region? Can an open sketch create a region? A region is a closed sketch.
An open sketch region cannot be used to create a region. The reason being is that a sketch which
forms a region is able to be extruded/cut, if the sketch isnt closed it would be impossible to form
an extrusion from an open sketch since this is something the software does automatically.
3. (2 points) What is the Used Sketches collector used for? The used sketches collector can be
used for many different things. One is always in the pathfinder for reference. Another is if the
sketch needs to be copied, or needs to be altered.
4. (3 points) Explain the workflow for copying a feature to a new location. To copy a feature to
a new location you simply click on the face/edge/surface and then the steering wheel comes up.
This is then used to move the feature from place to place.
5. (3 points) Explain the workflow for applying a face relationship. To apply a face relationship
on the Home>Face Relate section, you simply click on a reference face/feature, and then using
the desired relationship you can then click on one or more other reference points in which the
2

face relationship will then be applied. An example of this is making two surfaces at different
heights the same height.
