Chapter 14
This afternoon Sara was not in her room. Only Melchisedec, her rat friend, was there.
In the attic he saw and heard something. Melchisedec knew Sara went out for some
time. Melchisedec listened, played and looked around Saras room and attic.
Suddenly, Melchisedec saw two faces. Two men wanted to go inside the room. The
rat was scared that they were thieves, but they werent. One of them was Ram Dass
and the second was the Indian gentlemans secretary. Sara knew them but
Melchisedec didnt!
The secretarys name was Sahib. He was a young man. Sahib saw the rat and asked
Ram Dass about it. Ram Dass said that there were many rats in this room but Sara
liked all animals. Ram Dass described Sara to Sahib. He knew a lot about her. He
watched her every day.
Ram Dass knew that Sara went out with her basket to do the shopping. They tried to
be very quiet.
Sahib started writing something down with a pencil on his tablet. He walked, ran
around the room and made notes. Everything in Saras room was cold and miserable.
Her bed was as hard as stone with only one small pillow. Her sheets were thin and
damaged. There was a fireplace, but Sahib said that it looked as it never had fire in it.
Sara lived in a cold and damaged room. She dreamed about princess room. Sahib
and Ram Dass wanted to redecorate the room for her.
Sahib asked if they can do it while Saras asleep. It would look as magician
redecorated it. Ram Dass called it a story from the Arabian Nights. Two men
decided to bring lots of new things to Saras room. They went out quietly to start their
work.
At the same time Melchisedec was scared. He did not know what these men said
and wanted to do.
