Our Lady of Unity Catholic

School
2015-2016 School Year

Dear Parents & Friends,

As you know, there are six

expectations required to obtain
the parish scholarship. These
are all related to raising your
child as a practicing Catholic by
your guidance and example.
Number one on the list is to
attend weekend Mass. As a
means to verify and get the
students more involved, we ask
that they complete Mass
reflections. These reflections
should be completed by the
students, as much as possible,
with parent assistance. And
they also should not be
completed unless the students
themselves have attended
Mass. This can only happen at
the request of the parents. It is
important for parents to stress
the significance of Mass to their
children not only through their
example of going but also
through their expectation that
their children attend as well.
With summer approaching
and no Mass reflections to
submit, it can become easy to
sleep in on Sunday mornings.
Resist that urge and remember
that God never takes a break
from us!
God Bless!
Nancy Butters

WALK-A-THON
The annual walk-a-thon is
Friday, May 6. Students are
asked to raise a minimum of
$10 to participate. Pledge
sheets were sent home last in
last weeks envelope.

RAFFLE TICKETS

Raffle sales are going great

but we are now down to less
than one month remaining to
get the last 300 tickets sold. In
case you were looking for an
incentive, we have one! We
were recently blessed with a
generous $5000 donation for
tickets and the donor chose to
not be entered in the contest.
Instead, each family who sells
tickets will have their name
entered into the drawing to win
the prize! If you sell 15 or
more we will put your name on
two tickets. Remember that
the prizes are $10,000, $3,000
and $2,000 and you could be
the big winner! If you have
sold raffle tickets, please stop
by the office to fill out your free
ticket and be entered in the
drawing the last day of school.

SPRING CONCERT
The Spring Concert is
Thursday, May 5 at 630 pm.
Students should be dressed in
a nice outfit, no jeans or tennis
shoes. They do not have to be
in the school uniform. Please
have students in the church at
6:15 pm. The concert will run
about 45 minutes and there
will be refreshments following.
Middle School Band students
should be sure to have their
instruments, music stands and
music. Upon arrival they can
take their instruments to the
music room and get the music
stands and instruments set up
and ready to go by 6:25 pm.

PTO SOCIAL
Youre all invited to a PTO
social tomorrow, April 30
following the 4:00 Mass at SH.
You do not need to bring
anything but yourselves and
your family. There will be
hotdogs with chili and cheese,
chips, cookies, and drinks.
This is a great opportunity to
visit with or meet other school
families and celebrate another
great year at OLU. We hope
you can all make it.

SUMMER CHURCH
CLEANING
We are looking for families
who would be available to
help clean SH church over the
summer. If you are interested
please call the office and we
will get you scheduled. Many
families look for ways to earn
their service hours required for
the parish scholarship. This is
an easy way for you to do it
when its convenient for you.
Please consider helping.
