10th Muharram

In spite of the fact that the month of Muharram is a hallowed month all in
all, the 10 th of Muharram is the most consecrated among all its days. The
day is named 'Ashurah'. It is a standout amongst the most essential and
favored days of Allah in the Islamic logbook. As indicated by the Sacred
sidekick, Ibn Abbas Radhiallaho Anhu, when the Blessed Prophet Sallallahu
Alayhi Wassallam moved to Madinah, he found that the Jews of Madinah
used to quick on the 10 th day of Muharram. They said that it was the day
on which the Blessed Prophet Musa Alayhis Salaam and his adherents
crossed the Red Ocean wonderfully, and the Pharaoh was suffocated in its
water. On listening to this from the Jews, the Sacred Prophet Sallallahu
Alayhi Wassallam said, "We are more firmly identified with Musa than you."
So the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wassallam guided the Muslims to quick
upon the arrival of Ashura. (Abu Dawood) As indicated by another Hadith,
it is more prudent that the quick of Ashura ought to be either preceeded or
suceded by an extra quick. It implies that one ought to quick two days: the
9 th and 10 th of Muharram or the 10 th and 11 th . The reason of this
extra quick as specified by the Heavenly Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi
Wassallam is that the Jews used to quick upon the arrival of Ashura alone,
and the Blessed Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wassallam needed to recognize
the Islmaic-method for fasting from that of the Jews. Along these lines, he
exhorted the Muslims to add another quick to the day of Ashura. Some
Ulama (researchers) are of the conclusion that before the fasts of
Ramadhan were made necessary, the quick of the day of Aashora was
obligatory upon the Ummah. This is expressed in a Hadeeth reported by
Hazrat Aisha (Radhiyallahu-Anha): "that the Sacred Prophet SallallahuAlayhi-Wasallam) requested the recognition of the quick of Aashora.
Notwithstanding, when the quick of Ramadhan got to be mandatory, then
whosoever wished, kept this quick and whosoever sought did not watch
this quick. (Bukhari) However, by and by the Prophet (Sallallahu-AlayhiWasallam) kept on fasting this day and urged his Mates to do likewise.
