IPad Technology Proposal Glen Paul School

Our First wave of IPads that were given to speech therapist and classroom teachers
for student circular use started in May of 2011. Many of these IPads are starting to
show their age (freezing up, broke screens etc.). We have also started to get a big
push from parents and outside agencies about IPads being used for communication
devices. After talking with Christine Yannone, she and I agreed that many of the
older IPads could work perfectly as students personal communication devices
because thats all they would be required to do. My proposal is to ask for monies to
replace the first wave of IPads and to use the old IPads as communication devices
for students who have IEP's that determine they require one. This will provide us
with the necessary inventory of older IPads to meet this growing demand while at
the same time provide the classrooms with new IPads that can meet the classroom
curricular needs.
16 Teachers and 3 Speech Therapist = 19 total IPads @ $700.00 each = $ 13,300
Option 2
Buy half the IPads for school year 2016-2017 and buy the other half school year
2017-2018
2016-2017- 10 IPads @ $700.00 each= $7000.00
2017-2018- 9 IPads @ $700.00 each= $6300.00
