Phase 1: Analysis risk survey:

Executive summary
Between Monday (15th) and Thursday (18th) we let target group 2 MAR 05 fill in a risk survey.
With this survey we managed to get a good look on how this group handles risk.
Unfortunately we werent able to link the answers with the sex because of practical reasons
(for this distinction, we had to pay) We asked them all different questions about several
topics: risks on the road, in sports, on holiday, risks in their future life, and that lead to
some surprising conclusions. The results of the questions about safety on the road show that
there are several people who take risks here. For example, 80% of this target group has
driven too fast in their live and 30% of them already received in fine for it. Another great
example is the fact that 30% has already driven drunk, which is a lot for such young drivers.
Another fact is the biggest part of the group is willing to take big risks if these make them
achieve great things in their life. Were talking about financial & professional subjects. Finally
weve adapted this survey to all the students at the Arteveldehogeschool. Weve added one
question to the survey asking about the age of the student.
Introduction
This report will look at the results of our risk survey with target group 2 MAR 05 considering:
- Taking risks on the road
o Drunk driving
o Speeding
- Risks in sports & on holidays
- Stealing
- Gambling
- Risks in finding a job and achieving goals
At last, weve adapted this survey to a bigger audience all students at the
Arteveldehogeschool.
All graphs, who support the findings, can be found in appendix 1

Findings

20 people took our online survey about taking risks with topics like drunk driving,
traveling, fines and theft. 8 of those were female and 12 were male.
The second graph shows that only 30% of the survey takers would drive drunk..
These past years weve created a new outlook on driving safely, mostly by
encountering more and more police, this new vision has eliminated a lot of bad
driving habits
Only a miniscule part of the survey takers always drive within the speed limit. 70%
drives too fast.
A tremendous part of our study group always wears a seatbelt while they sit in the
car.

Half of our study group has never received a fine in their life. The other half received
some for miniscule reasons like parking tickets.
Our study group likes taking tremendous risks when it comes to sports. For example:
65% of the target group would go skydiving where things can easily go wrong.
A significant part of the study group wouldnt let their friend drive him/her when
he/she is drunk. The amount of people that wouldnt let their friends drive drunk is
actually bigger than when they decide to drive drunk themselves.
Stealing a bike only appeals to a slight part of the participants but when group
pressure is involved and their friend does it first, you can see a significant rise of
theft.
The amount of people that would enjoy a city trip or a relaxed holiday is huge. Only a
small group will choose an adventurous holiday.
Weve concluded that a substantial part of the group doesnt like taking risks before
going on a trip. They like to do a bit of research before leaving.
50% of our study group likes to gamble.
A great part of our study group knows that they have to take risks if they want to
achieve greatness.
In the results we could see that 75% of our research group likes dangerous rides
when they go to an amusement park. Thats a significant part of our group.
15% of the target group would take a calculated decision when it comes to taking a
steady job which means that 85% is prepared to take risks when it comes to finding a
job.

Conclusion
Weve evaluated all the results and we can conclude that there is a serious amount of risk
takers on many interesting subjects such as what they want to do when they finish college
and theres still a significant amount of the interviewees that takes risks on the road. Were
talking about driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding.
Recommendations
1. For their future jobs or pursuing their dreams we would recommend them to take
risks in these areas, because we are sure that itll have a positive influence on their
lives.
2. For dangerous risks, like drinking and driving or speeding, we would recommend
them to not take big risks. They arent only playing with their own lives but also with
that of others.

Phase 2:
If we want to broaden our research of our survey to all the students of Artevelde
Hogeschool, we have to add a couple of new questions. We realize that there are also a lot
of older students in our college, and the survey has to appeal to them as well. We would add
a question about the age of the student. We think there can possibly be a link between the
age of students and the amount of risks they take. Older students often already have more
life experience than students who just got out of high school and we want to know if theres
a difference between them.
The extra question (and the conforming responses) we would ask is the following:
What is your age range?
o 18-19 years
o 20-21
o 22-24
o 25-29
o 30-40
o 40+
