MAKING A PAPERCLIP FLOAT

PROBLEM/QUESTION

Can I make a paperclip float on water?

HYPOTHESIS

I think the paperclip will float on water, when put in the water
in a specific way.

MATERIALS

Two Paperclips

A bowl

Water

PROCEDURE

Step 1: Fill up your bowl with water.

Step 2: Take one of your paperclips and unfold it so it makes

the shape of an L.

Step 3: Balance your other paperclip sideways onto the L

shaped paperclip.

Step 4: Gently place the paperclip in the water.

Step 5: Gently remove the L shaped paperclip that is helping

the other paper clip float.

RESULTS/DATA

The paperclip floated on the water.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the hypothesis was proved to be correct. The

paperclip did float on the water as predicted. I learned exactly
how to make a paperclip float on water. It can be further
examined just how long the paperclip can float. Will it float
indefinitely or will it eventually sink?
