Activity: Tony Chestnut
Why do this Activity?
Our class is learning different silly songs each week to practice
appropriate big body movements indoor.

Enthusiastic Children
Prepare for Activity
Ensure there is enough space for large motor movements and space
between children. Can be done indoors or outside. Teach lyrics and

movement at the same time. Slowly at first and getting faster as the
children get more attune to the words and movement together.
Lead Small Groups
Song can be done if children need a distraction or start getting
restless. Or during free choice and children can come and go as they
please.
Respond to individuals
Some individuals may need extra assistance in following directions. It
is best to have another teacher at arms length to support this
child/ren.
Follow up after activity
During transitions use the identified body parts from the song in If you
can hear me touch your ____
Involve Families
Send home lyrics and have the students teach the song to their
families.
Have silly dance parties!
