Oneofmygoalsatthebeginningofthesemesterwastounderstandwhatconstitutedan
EnglishLanguageLearner,howtheylearn,andwhatIcandotohelpthembesuccessfulinmy
classroom.ThroughoutthesemesterwevelearnedthehistorybehindEnglishLanguage
Learners,theadversitiestheyvehadtogothrough,andthedifferentwaystheyvefoughtfor
qualityeducation.ThiscoursehastaughtmethatanEnglishLanguageLearnerismorethana
studentwhodoesntmeettheAZELLAbenchmark;anELLisjustliketheotherstudentsinmy
classwhoneedindividualizedattentioninordertosucceed.IvealsolearnedthatIneedto
advocateformyELLstudents.Thiscoursehasexposedmetothevariouscourtcasesboth
historicalandcurrentthatbilingualandELLstudentshavebeeninvolvedinandaffectedby.
Thesecasesandthelawstheyveaffectedareimportanttoknowinordertoproperlyadvocate
formyELLstudents.
Asastudentinthisclass,IfeltthatIvebeenveysuccessful.Ivecompletedthedifferent
assignments,ontime,andusingtherubricasaguide.Ionlyaskedforanextensiononadeadline
onceanditwasforanextenuatingcircumstancethatwasoutofmycontrol.TheworkIve
completedforthissemesterreflectsthatIputineffortintothepapers,readthematerialbefore
writingthereadinglogs,andwatchedthevideosbeforefillingouttheworksheets.
Iattendedandparticipatedinallbutoneclassduringthesemester.IntheclassesI
attended,Icamepreparedandfullyparticipatedintheactivityordiscussion.
