Dear Andrew
Pleasure meeting you! My name is Kyle Murphy and I am a sophomore at UNC. A short
history of my education: I was originally homeschooled through fourth grade, started at a small
Christian private school in Matthews in fifth grade and I remained there until graduation. I was
accepted to start at UNC in the spring semester of 2015, so I took a few classes at community
college in the fall semester of 2014. In spring, I officially started at UNC as a history major,
however that was short-lived. During the summer, I made a big turn around and became a
mathematics major. More specifically mathematics for business with a concentration in
economics and finance. Upon completion of my junior year, I hope to be accepted into the early
entry masters program for mathematical finance. As for reading and writing, I like to consider
myself at a college level, though I am a fairly slow reader.
In my personal life, I do not do too much. I previously worked at Ralph Lauren though I
had to quit due to scheduling conflicts. I play piano in my free time but I am definitely a closet
player! I strongly dislike playing in front of other people. I have 6 brothers, 2 older and 4
younger. I despise presenting in front of a class or even just reading to the class. I enjoy reading
some books but I rarely spend my free time doing so. Its usually spent watching TV or coming
up with some new crazy idea for my house that I never actually get around to doing. I like the
idea of gardening, and I enjoy taking a stroll through gardens, however I do not personally do it.
I have attended Full Life Church in Concord for about nine years now and have lived in the
charlotte area for eleven. So yeah, thats me.
Youre only given a little spark of madness. You mustnt lose it. Robin Williams. This
quote speaks volumes about being human. Without that little spark of madness, what separates us
from any other animal? It is that madness that got us to the moon, that built skyscrapers, that
created billionaires, it is astonishing what people have done in this world.
