This course is ideal for those individuals who require an intensive yet broad-ranging
introduction to the key principles of fire prevention, fire protection and fire risk assessment.
With likely responsibility for fire safety at management level, it will enable you to develop
skills and knowledge in support of your role. In addition, it offers a number of progression
opportunities including the Level 4 Diploma in Fire Prevention and the NEBOSH Certificate in
Fire Safety & Risk Management.
You will develop:
1. Underpinning knowledge relevant to Fire Safety NOS FS1, FS2, FS3 and FS7.
2. Understanding of the fundamental principles of fire prevention and protection
measures, raising awareness of the vast range of topics involved in fire safety
management.
3. Knowledge of the principal workplace fire hazards, associated risks and passive and
active means available to mitigate fire.
4. Ability to apply the principles and methodology of fire risk assessment, exploring the
process and applying learning through a number of practical activities.
Certification
1. The CFPA Europe Certificate in Principles of Fire Safety at Work and the first element of
the CFPA Europe Diploma in Fire Prevention.
2. Approval towards the Institution of Fire Engineers Register of Fire Risk Assessors and
Auditors.
3. An optional assessment in units FC1 and FC2 of the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety
and Risk Management.

4. Certificate of Professional Development in Applied Fire Risk Assessment (40 HE Credits)
