Contour drawings
I believe that this assignment went really well. I have done contour drawings in the past,
although they were done with some different techniques than the ones that we did for this class, I
still had some kind of background knowledge about contour drawings before we started the
assignment. When we first started the contour drawings the object that I decided to draw was the
key to my car. After doing a few contour drawings of my key, I felt that my object was too
simple and I felt like I needed to be challenged more. So that is when I decided to switch to
drawing a feather. I found that the feather was a little more challenging and that made for some
really interesting drawings. I feel that the aesthetic qualities of my drawings were greatly
improved once I switched my object from my key to the feather. I also discovered over the
course of this assignment that for me semi-blind contour drawings were much easier to do than
the blind contour drawings were. In the future if I were to complete this assignment again I
would like to try an even more challenging object than a feather. I would like to eventually get
up to the skills to be able to do contour drawings of someones face and hands because I believe
that those are the two most difficult parts of the human form to draw. Also if I were to do this
assignment again I would like to try and do more blind contour drawings and that I would
eventually be able to do all my contour drawings as blind contour drawings.
