Rules and Regulations for Dance Night in Lewis

Here are a few things you need to know about dance night. Please read them carefullyeven if you are not
going to the dance.
Tickets and Guests
You may buy your dance tickets from our commissioners and hall clerks until the Wednesday before
the dance.
All residents may purchase two tickets: one for you and one for a guest. You must register your guest
with the dance commissioners by the night before the dance.
You are welcome to bring a non-Notre Dame student as your guest, as long as you register him/her.
Please remember that you are responsible for making sure your guest knows and understands the
house rules and dance expectations. YOU are responsible for any violations or poor decisions your
guest makes on dance night.
Past Lewis residents who are living off campus may attend the dance with Laylas permission.
No Boys Allowed!
Between 7-9:30pm, no boys will be allowed outside of the lobby and parlor on dance night. This is
girl time! Throw open your doors, turn up the music, and have fun as you pretty yourself up for the
ball.
The Parlor will be set up as a guys space from 7-9:30 with food, movies, etc. If your guests would
prefer to hang out there, they are more than welcome!
Creative but tasteful attire are encouraged for you and your guest. Hall Staff has the discretion to ask
those with overtly sexual or revealing costumes to leave the dance. See your RA with any questions.
Social Gatherings
Social Gatherings are permitted only permitted between 9:30 and 10:15 and must be registered with
LAYLA by midnight on Thursday.
At the dance
The dance begins at 10pm. You and your date must check in with Hall Staff at the LaFortune
Ballroom no later than 10:30 (You do not need to check in at Lewis before going to LaFun). Those
arriving after 10:30 will not be admitted to the dance.
If you are visibly intoxicated, you will not be admitted to the dance. No alcohol is allowed at the
dance, regardless of age.
Should you choose to leave the dance early, you will not be readmitted. If you are asked to leave the
dance early, or if you need assistance getting home, you will not be allowed to leave the hall for the
rest of the night.
After the dance
Lewis Residents will be allowed into their sections at any time during the evening. However, dance
guests will not be allowed back into the sections, at any time, after their departure for the dance.
ABSOLUTELY NO PARTIES OR ROOM GATHERINGS AFTER THE DANCE.
Parietals are at midnight!
Not Attending the Dance?
If you are not attending the dance, social gatherings are permitted between 9:30 and midnight, but
these must also be registered with LAYLA by midnight on Thursday.
Male guests are not permitted outside the lobby and parlor between 7:00 and 9:30pm the evening of
the dance.
Parietals are at midnight!

If we have an incident free dance, Lewis Hall receives $1000 from SAO (and no, that is not a
typo). If your decisions result in our disqualification of these funds, please be aware that you
may face fines up to $1000.
