FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Join the Nationwide Celebration This Year for National Physical Therapy Month
Easton, Monday, August 10 Its that time of year again to join the American Physical
Therapy Association (APTA) in celebrating National Physical Therapy Month and
helping APTAs new vision, Transforming society by optimizing movement to improve
the human experience, become a reality!
National Physical Therapy Month is a nationally recognized celebration each October
that aims to highlight the benefits of physical therapy and recognize the 88,000 physical
therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students of physical therapy who help
improve the physical wellbeing of todays society.
National Physical Therapy Month was established in 1992 by the APTA after originating
in 1981 as National Physical Therapy Week. Today, National Physical Therapy Month
has become so popular that the entire month is now recognized in the National Health
Observances Calendar.
Physical Therapists (PTs) are highly-educated healthcare professionals who are licensed
to help patients reduce pain and restore mobility, normally without expensive surgery and
the need for long-term prescription medication and their side effects. PTs examine each
individual and develop a plan, using treatment techniques to enhance the ability to move,
reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability or further injury by creating
wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.
To become a physical therapist, you must receive a graduate degree either a masters or
clinical doctorate from an accredited physical therapist program before taking the
national licensure exam and the state licensure that enables you to practice.
Tidewater Physical Therapy is a great example of a clinic aiming to accomplish APTAs
new vision. Chief Operating Officer Jenn Walter takes pride in the effective outcomes,
clinical quality and exceptional customer service that her PTs provide.
Today, I am still excited about waking up and getting to work in the morning. After 30
years in business with 16 clinics in Maryland and Delaware and 100+ employees, one
thing remains constant: Our commitment to the community to provide quality care in a
caring atmosphere and have everyone you encounter in our organization make you feel
welcome
