Question

Which commercial anti bacterial

soap or herbal material is the
most effective at killing germs?

Materials
10 petri dishes (100 mm
x 20 mm)
Agar powder (type
unknown)
1 small pot
1 pair of tongs
1 tweezer
1 filter paper
Pressure cooker
8 anti bacterial soaps
and
herbal materials
Pencil

1 teaspoon
Electronic Weighing
scale
Measuring bottle
Tape
Scissor
Marker pen
Styrofoam box
Coin
Ruler

Procedure

1. The petri dishes, tweezers and teaspoon

were sterilized using the pressure cooker.
2. Agar was prepared by boiling 7 g of agar
powder in 300 ml of water.
3. Agar was poured into the sterilized petri
dishes and left to cool and solidify.
4. Then 9 petri dishes were inoculated with
bacteria by rubbing a finger in the
centers of the petri dishes.

Procedure

5. The petri dishes were incubated until

bacteria growth was visible.
6. The center of each petri dish was
applied with a type of anti-bacterial
material using a circular piece of filter
paper.
7. The effectiveness of a material at
killing bacteria was evaluated by
visually estimating the area of dead
bacteria on agar in a petri dish.

Hypothesis
All claimed anti-bacterial materials
are effective at killing bacteria.
