INTRODUCTION
Ladies Finger(Okra) glue, This study is conducted to prove okra' eligibility as the basic
element of glue. This study will benefit people to make effective home made glue that us eco
friendly with reachable ingredients at home and they do not have to buy commercual glues that are
harmful to the invironment (Ariadna 2022). Okra(Abelmoschus esculentus) shows up the
alternative way on making glue. This study focuses in the potential of okra as renewable product
that use significant for purposes (Rhizman 2022).Plant mucilages is found in almost all classes of
plants, usually in very small amount. It can be extracted from a variety of plant partss, including
rhizomes, roots and seed endosperms. These compounds are widely used in pharmaceutical food
and cosmetics industry, as well as an agriculture, textile, paper-industries (Troncoso et al.., 2017).
Based on data, okra glue can stick on 5 different objects, bond paper, oslo paper, popsickles, HVS
paper and Bufallo paper (Ariadna 2022). Okra glue can be used by students on their paperworks
and projects
(Rhizman 2022). The researcher prepared substance like flour and water to make its ability more
In the University of Sto. Tomas in 2013, a study was made about having
Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) as alternative Glue. The study made use of the
Okra pods because it contains mucilage which gives it slimy characteristic and is a
good potential as an alternative glue. The researcher conducted its experimentation
by extracting the mucilage of the okra. After extracting, the researcher mixed its
mucilage with water(distilled water) and flour to make the besst organic glue
(Rhizman 2022). Results showed that ethanol extraction was an effective method
for extraction of the glue form okra, after being soaked in distilled water overnight
with ratios of material to solvent (Jing Ys Sun 2014). The ingredients are
particularly the okra mucilage(extract) water, and flour (Barata Jr.).
The time okra glue too to dry on Normal Paper, Buffalo paper, and popsicle stick respectively are
3 min 24.45 sec, 5 min 16.78 sec, and 9 min 51.88 sec (Ariadna 2022). Judging from the researchers 15
minutes of experiment, the Okra slime could be made to work (Christine 2020). The study shows that
the tume okra glue took to dry on Bond Paper is 8mins 12sec, Oslo Paper 9mins 21sec, Art Paper
9mins 48sec, Glossy Paper 10mins 57sec, Card Paper 12min 37sec (Fulgencio et al 2014). Okra pods
should be bright and vibrant green, not super shiny, but more of a low-sheen. Okra spoils quickly, and
as it’s spoiling it changes colour. At first, the okra will be bright green, like grass, but as it ages or
spoils it will get darker green or brown in colour, or have a motley colour (Alex Johnson 2022).
Spoiled Okra becomes saggy and dry It also feels saggy if touched it (Pokpoksom 2021). The okra has
spoiled if they’ve become soft, mushy, or brown. If it’s spoiled, they lose its vibrant color and crunch.
They may also have more slime by the bud. If the okra is rotten,  it may develop mold as well (Instacart
2021).
When eated a cooked okra pod, it might notice a gooey texture at the interior.
There's a scientific explanation for okra's sliminess: "Okra pods are mucilaginous,"
says food scientist and food safety expert Millie Ngaru (2022), who consults with Fast
Food Menu Prices. Mucilaginous foods contain a type of soluble fiber that dissolves in
water and produces "a gooey and slimy texture" (Tobin 2022). Okra pods are known
as “mucilaginous,” which results in slimy or gooey mouthfeel when cooked. This
“mucilage” or slime contains soluble fiber that can be digested. Some folks enjoy this
texture, while others try to mask the slippery nature of the pods (Orabone 2015). If the
okra is wet or slimy, it's spoiled and needs to be thrown out. When okra is cooked it
may become sticky or slimy but it shouldn't be slimy when stored as a whole pod
(Martinez 2022).
The goal of this study is the creation of glue out of okra mucilage
to produce an organic and safe glue for the consumption of the
community. Due to the rising price of commercial glue in the market,
justifies the need for creating alternative sources. The findings of this
study reflect on the impact of the creation of these glues. The making of
these glues out of okra mucilage would bring a great impact to our
community especially in the environment. The use of these alternative
glue help students to lessen the spend of money in buying commercial
glue. With this kind of glue, the students will save their money instead of
buying expensive glues.
