Cruel War

Jack Gardner

106

Imagine vast blazing smoke, Blizzards of bullets,

Flesh is blistered and spread, angels and demons waging war across the battlefield.
Cant tell if this is true or dream,
The vast landscape of fighting is almost too rugged to be reality.
Temptation of death, to escape the uncertainty of death.
Screams come from within, lives get drained, while personalities are weakened,
anger is measured, and elegance is strung
Heroic demons, and infuriated angels, imprisoning lives.
Victory is practical, and war machines are made.
Cigarettes are smoked to calm, and alcohol is drank to numb
Thoughts of home are pondered, and love is missed, but seldom returned
