MEASUREMENTS

Choose the appropriate apparatus and procedure for the measurement of length, mass,
volume, time and temperature in different situations.
Read measuring instruments (metre rule, ruler, vernier calipers, electronic balance,
measuring cylinder, digital stopwatch, thermometer, etc) accurately;
Express and record measurements in their correct units;
Make a rough estimate of some quantities (e.g temperature of frozen foods, mass of a
baby, height of a room, etc);
Enumerate a few precautions taken during measurement.

2. DENSITY AND PRESSURE

Explain that pressure is caused by the action of force and an area

F

Explain the difference between vectors and scalars
Distinguish between speed and velocity
Demonstrate an understanding of what is meant by acceleration
Plot a speed-time graph
Recognize from a speed-time graph when a body is (i) at rest, (ii) moving with uniform
speed, (iii) moving with uniform acceleration.

of 2 types of charges, (iii) like charges repel and unlike charges attract, (iv) an electric
current is a flow of charge
