INTRODUCTION
Hebrew was originally a Phoenician pictographic language. That means it used
pictures for letters. Each Hebrew Aleph-bet not only has a wealth of information to
learn, but each letter has several different meanings as well as a numerical value.
Hebrew is the only ancient language (from the Old Testament days) that died and was
resurrected and is still used today.
Hebrew is written from right to left, unlike English which is written from left to right.
Did you know that Yahweh designed the world and the languages, so that they all
point to Jerusalem?
All languages EAST of JERUSALEM, are written from right to left.
All languages WEST of JERUSALEM, are written from left to right.
Therefore, languages point to JERUSALEM, and all languages point to YAHWEH.
The purpose of this manual, is to stir up a thirst in you to want to learn Hebrew. Jesus
said in Matthew 5:18, For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot
or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Therefore, we can see by this scripture that even a jot or tittle has great importance
to Yahweh (God), because Yeshua (Jesus) confirms it in the New Testament. Eliezer
Ben Yehuda revived the Hebrew language in the 1880s and today, it is spoken,
written, taught and read, all over the world. The Hebrew language evolved over
hundreds of years. When Hebrew was first written down in the (10th c. B.C.E.), only
consonants were used, because they did not use vowels.
The solution was to add vowel letters, a process which happened in 4

different stages:
STAGE 1: 10th c.B.C.E.

During Stage 1, it was very difficult to pronounce words because there
were no vowels. This was during the time of King David and King
Solomon.
STAGE 2: 10th c.B.C.E.

In Stage 2, they selected 3 consonants to become vowels. The consonants
selected are vav ( ) , yod ( ) and hey ( ) . These were placed at the end
of words to act as vowels.
These vowels became known as matres lectionis, which is Latin for
"reading mother." These letters help us to know how to pronounce
words, just like a mother helps her child to read.
vav represents the vowel u
yod represents the vowel i
hey represents the ah/eh/oh
STAGE 3: 586 B.C.E. (after the Exile)

vav represents the vowel u & o and it was used inside of words
yod represents the vowel i & e and it was used inside of words
hey represents the ah/eh/oh continued to be placed at the end of words
STAGE 4: 7th-9th c.C.E.

In the final stage they developed the Nikkud Vowel Pointing System. This
way, the oral tradition of the scribes, could be permanently recorded in
more detail than the system of mater lectionis.
There are several different ways to vocalize biblical text, but the one
most widely used is the Tiberian tradition, which was developed by the
school of scribes in the city of Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee.
The Nikkud Vowel Pointing System did not erase the previous system of
mater lectionis. Part of what makes biblical Hebrew transliteration so
complicated is that all of these systems now exist simultaneously one on
top of the other. And we want to be able to translate Hebrew into Latin,
exactly as we see it.

ALEPH and GIMEL

Once upon a time, there was a little OX named ALEPH. She lived in a little
HOUSE on BET Street. ALEPH was very happy when she got up this
morning, because she was going to the mall, in her new walking shoes and
she was hoping that her friend, GIMEL the CAMEL, would go with her.
ALEPH smiled as she put on her new walking shoes, and then she started
on her way. She soon arrived at the home of her friend, GIMEL the CAMEL.
Hi GIMEL, said ALEPH. Hi ALEPH, said GIMEL. Where are you going? Im
going to the mall said ALEPH, do you want to come? Sure, said GIMEL the
CAMEL. Im wearing my new walking shoes, said ALEPH. Very nice, said
GIMEL the CAMEL.
On the way they passed by the home of DALET. Hi DALET, said GIMEL and
ALEPH. What are you doing they said? Im trying to fix my DOOR said
DALET. HEY Where are you going? said DALET. BEHOLD! We are going to
the mall said GIMEL the CAMEL. Are you going to the VAV Mall, asked
DALET? Yes, said ALEPH, we are going to the VAV Mall. Will you bring me a
NAIL to fix my DOOR said DALET? Sure, said GIMEL and ALEPH. Can you
also bring a WEAPON for my friend Zayin, said DALET? A
WEAPON!!! said ALEPH!!! Why does Zayin need a WEAPON, said
ALEPH!!!
Well I went to visit him yesterday, and he told me that he saw CHET and
his wife [YOD] , in their front yard trying to repair the FENCE , around
their garden. When all of a sudden, they see this huge TET SNAKE,in their
garden. Wow!!!! a TET SNAKE , said GIMEL and ALEPH!!!
What did they do next, said GIMEL and ALEPH!?! [YOD] was so brave,
she tried to kill the TET SNAKE and she almost got bit on her [HAND!]
said DALET? Wow!!! said GIMEL and ALEPH!!!
[YOD] tried to hit the TET SNAKE with a KAF, continued DALET, and
that really hurt her [HAND] and now it is very hard for her to OPEN or
CLOSE her [HAND.] What happen to the TET SNAKE said GIMEL and
ALEPH!?! The snake got away, said DALET, that is why Zayin needs a
WEAPON. He wants to be ready, just in case that TET SNAKE comes
back, because he cannot walk very good or run, said DALET. Why?? What
happen to Zayin said GIMEL and ALEPH???
Zayin hurt his foot last week jogging and now he has a cut and a big
LAMED on his foot and he has to use a STAFF in order to walk around.
Wow!!!! said ALEPH!!! I will pray for them. See you later DALET, said
GIMEL and ALEPH, we must, get to the mall. Half way to the mall, GIMEL
and ALEPH started getting hungry.
Lets stop at the SAMEK SUPPORT center and have some MEM WATER and
NUN FISH, said ALEPH. Sounds good to me, said GIMEL the CAMEL. When
GIMEL and ALEPH arrived at the SAMEK SUPPORT center, it was very
crowded. Almost half the city was there, eating lunch.
GIMEL, said ALEPH, do you think we should ask our friend PEY if we should
tell everyone about the TET SNAKE? Yes!!! Said GIMEL PEY, has a very
loud MOUTH and I know she will also tell all the members of the SAMEK
SUPPORT city group, to keep a watchful EYE for that terrible TET SNAKE.
PEY made sure that the word went out right away, about that terrible TET
SNAKE.
In less than 30 minutes, PEY received a phone call from her best friend
AYIN, who owns a nice little FISHHOOK shop across town named,
TSADE & TSADE. AYIN told PEY that someone spotted that terrible
TET SNAKE at the end of town, heading for the back woods and PEY told
GIMEL and ALEPH.
Run, run run, said GIMEL to ALEPH, we must kill him before he reaches the
back woods!!! Just as they reached the stop SIGN at the CROSS walk for
TAV Street, they spotted that terrible TET SNAKE and ALEPH ran even
faster and leaped way up in the air and hit that terrible TET SNAKE right in
the BACK OF THE HEAD, with her SHEEN TOOTH, and it was all over!
The terrible TET SNAKE let out a loud QOF, and rolled over, and died.
Almost every PERSON in SAMEK city began to RESH across town to see the
MARK that ALEPH made on the HEAD of that terrible TET SNAKE.
Every PERSON in SAMEK city was so grateful to ALEPH and happy that she
did not get hurt. WOW!!! said, GIMEL. That is enough excitement for me
for one day. Lets go home.
Sure, said ALEPH. ALEPH Said GIMEL, can I ask you a question? Sure, said
ALEPH. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!?!? screamed, GIMEL I wasnt
thinking, said ALEPH. Ok, just checking said GIMEL the CAMEL.
Everyone slept good that night, because the terrible TET SNAKE was dead.
But not ALEPH, she was thinking about her new walking shoes that she lost
when she leaped up in the air to attack that terrible TET SNAKE.
ALEPH decided to count sheep and was soon fast asleep. The next day, she
jumps up and runs over to tell GIMEL the CAMEL all about the wonderful
dream she had. GIMEL I had this wonderful dream about the Lord.
HE made me the first letter of HIS Hebrew Aleph-bet, isnt that wonderful,
said ALEPH, as she quickly chattered on And then HE used all the letters
of the Aleph-bet to create a language called Hebrew and then HE used the
Hebrew language to start speaking things into existence.
Who is the Lord, said GIMEL the CAMEL?? WHO IS THE LORD!!!, said
ALEPH?? GIMEL, said ALEPH, have I got a story to tell you, and its all
about the Lord, the True and Living God. OK, In the beginning, God created
the heavens and the earth. WAIT!!!, said GIMEL the CAMEL, let me sit
down first, ok go on In the beginning, God created the heavens and the
earth nowwhat happened next?

I joined Gods House of Refuge Church & School of Evangelism, in 1994 under the leadership of Dr. Dorothy
J. Page, in 1994.
Under her leadership, God called me as a Teacher, which is one of the five-fold ministries. My current
duties are: Teacher, Armour Bearer, Church Administrator & Secretary and Board member.
In 2002, God also assigned me to travel abroad and assist Dr. Page in Ghana West Africa. Currently, we are
in the process of starting a child care home in Ghana, which is named, Gods House of Refuge Child Care
Home. We continue to make missionary trips to Ghana and look forward to opening the child care home.
Dr. Page appointed me as the Administrator and Coordinator, for the child care home in 2006.
