CHAPTER 1

1.1 INTRODUCTION
Car Numbering Detection is a system used to determine the location of plate number of a
car by using different method. And we know in every country they have a unique license
number, which is written on its license plate. This number distinguishes one vehicle from
the other, which is useful especially when both are of same make and model. A detection
system based on new technology can be used to identify the license plate of a vehicle and
extract the characters from the region containing a license plate. The license plate number
can be used to retrieve more information about the vehicle and its owner, which can be
used for further processing.

1.1.1 Objectives of Project.

The main objective of this project is to detect as well as display the
license plate of a car.
1.1. 2 Significance of this Project:

In order to achieve our goal several process was used. Starting from a digital
camera up to Matlab software.

1.1.3. Organization of the report :

This thesis consist five chapters. In first, it discusses about the objective and
meaning of this project as well as the summary of the work.
Chapter two explain The Literature Review
Chapter three explain the localization of license plate on car
Chapter four recognition of number plate
Chapter four will be the conclusion of the work.
