Child Care

"Child Care. If you were considering leaving your three year-old child in a child care facility
(family day care or child care center), what would be your major concerns? Why? would your
concerns be different, if your child were an infant? Explain. would you prefer an academic or a
child-centered preschool for your child? Why?"
There are many variables and concerns to what may choice for day care may be. If my
child is an infant, I will want to avoid family day care as infants and toddlers get less attention. If
my child would be a center daycare as split age groups and trained staff will be there to care for
my infant. Genetics play a role too, as some children are genetically prone to the possibility of
benefiting from this program. If my child is male, they are more prone to not benefiting because
of the absence of the mother. The quality of family day care varies. Culture is another
variable."(Berger K.S., 2014 p158).
The NICHD had followed around 1300 children from birth to age 11.They've concluded
that the experience of child day-care may reap benefits cognition and language development.
However, the length of time my child spend may be harmful in itself. If the child is an infant, I
should have my child in daycare no more than 20 hours a week especially in a poor quality
program. General conclusions are difficult."(Berger K.S., 2014 p160).
I should find the specific needs my child may have. If my child is happy in family day
care, there may be no reason to put the in center daycare. If they are an infant, I will want them
in center daycare. Both of these options are last resorts, however because of the fact that my
child will almost NICHD always benefit more from care provided from a mother. Mothercare is
pivotal, according to the . "(Berger K.S., 2014 p160).
