Skill:

The student applies

mathematical process
standards to select and use
units to descibe length and
time.

Tell time to the hour and half hour using

analog and digital clocks

Student Objective(s)
Be able to tell time using analog and digital clocks

Materials

Lesson Procedure:
Lesson Frame:
We will

Be able to tell time with and analog clock and digital. Also, know how tell hour
and half hour times.

I will

Be able to read all clocks and know hour and half out times

Anticipatory Set:

Time:

none

Instructional Strategy/Modeling:
With the big clock, I will show them what and hour and a half hour look like. I will also
show them the numbers in between and show them how the big number represent 5
minutes.

Guided Practice:
With the smart board we will do little problems with time to show hour and half hour
times with analog clocks and digital

Time:

Time:

Check for Understanding:

Time:

Once we have done the guided practice i will show them a time with my clock and
ask them to tell me the time.

Independent Practice:

Time:

With their little clocks and the worksheet they will work on hour and half hour times

Differentiation Plan for Independent Practice:

Group 2

Group 3

Closure:

Time:

We will come back to the carpet and i will show them a time and they will tell me it
to show that they understood the lesson

Time & Materials Management,Differentiation and Technology Check List:

*Use N/A for Not Applicable, if this does not apply to your lesson*
How will you

I plan to

Cut down on the time it takes to pass out

materials?

Have all the material already on the side

so all I have to do it give the worksheets
to a child in their group to pass them out
individually.

Put students in groups/partners?

Have students move to stations, or other

none
I will have the kids who are done go

parts of the room? (Moving to and from

the carpet counts!)
Call on students to answer questions?

down to the carpet and sit quietly

Call on the students who raise their
hands and are polite to others when
others are speaking

Manage the classroom while working with

individual students or groups (if
necessary).

I will keep my eyes scanning and making

sure the students are doing what they
are supposed to be doing while I work
with a student

Ensure that differentiated activities/groups

are not obvious to students?

I will make some pages have different

times that are harder or easier for
students who need it

How was technology use by teacher

and students in this lesson plan?

Use the smartboard to show them

examples of times
