Grade One Lesson Plan

Good morning! Glad that you could come in for me. Here is a bit of additional information
for you:

Treyton uses the bathroom a lot, just make sure he chooses a good time to ask.
Rylee, Katelyn and Elora need to be remind to go use the washroom.
Zoey is new to our classroom. She needs a buddy to go with her to the bathroom. As
well check in with her to make sure she is getting her work done.

If a child needs to use the bathroom they can ask to go and head down on their own.
****If ever the kids finish their work early they have busy booklets they can work on in
their book boxes, whiteboards that they can draw on or play cards on the carpet or any
educational games
In case of fire drill: We line up and go out either the east or northeast doors (if we are in
the Grade Area) . There is a white paper sticky tacked to the wall by the doors, of the
exits we usually take (attached is a class list you can carry on you for the day). Once
outside we stay in our line by the sidewalk. The kids have practiced. Attached is a map of
the exits you will take depending where you are in the school.
Once you have accounted for who is there or missing text the office cell number at

403 704 9560.

In case of lockdown:
Red lockdown: make sure doors are locked (INCLUDING GARAGE DOORS), lights
off, window blinds are closed. Students and staff concealed behind furniture (line
of chairs, tables, shelves etc.), face away from inside windows. Stay calm and
quiet. Lockdown will end once you have heard Lockdown is lifted, you may return
to regular activities.
Amber lockdown: shut door and continue on with class. No one is to leave the
room until amber lockdown is lifted.

Thank you for coming in for me today! Please let me know

if there were any issues! Hopefully the plans are easy to
understand!

Please wrap up 5
minutes before the

parachute to the
side. Then head back
down to the area
for the kids to stop
and have a drink or
use the bathroom.

1:40-1:50pm
1:50-2:30pm

You will repeat this gym lesson 3 times (period 5,6 and 7)
**When you yell freeze, kids know to drop whatever they have and freeze.
Warm up: Line Tag (5-10 minutes): Students have to stay on the lines while
trying to tag each other. When you get tagged you need to come to the side
and do 10 jumping jacks and join back in. Please pick 2-3 students to be it.
**Please take 5 minutes to go over safety rules about the parachute:
NO pulling hard on the parachute
Hold onto the handle. If there is no handle where a student is standing
they can roll a little bit of the parachute and hold on with a firm grip.
Not too tight.
If someone needs to go on the parachute, we go on our hands and knees
and crawl. No standing on the parachute.
MAIN: Parachute games:
1. Make a big circle and have the kids grab onto the parachute. Put some
foam balls in the middle of the parachute and try to move it so the
balls fall off. Encourage kids to move their arms quicker or ask if
anyone has a strategy we could try to get the balls off faster as a
team.
2. Mushroom: kids have their arms low to the ground then on the count of
3 they pull their arms straight up to make a mushroom shape (DO NOT
LET GO of the parachute). They should be able to see each other with
the parachute up in the air. Let the parachute slowly deflate and fall
back to the ground.
3. Similar to mushroom now we get to do the floating cloud. Kids will do
the same thing but this time they get to let go of the parachute and
watch it float away. Kids ARE NOT allowed to move from their spot;
when they let go they are stuck. When the parachute has stopped
moving then the kids furthest away from the parachute can walk over
and pull it back to make a circle again.
4. Dome: bend down and hold the parachute, count to 3 and lift your
hands, step forward 2 steps and sit on the inside of the parachute.
Everyone should be sitting on the edge of the inside of the parachute.
If someone is not sitting and letting air out, the parachute will deflate
a lot faster.
Last Recess: Outside supervision
Same as above

Period 7
My Class
2:30-3:10
Period 8
My class
Giraffe

1. Agenda note: Ask me how our Landmark Field Trip went today!!
2. Sharing: students sit in a circle to share what they have brought today.
Encourage them to ask different students (not just Hadley. Seems
she is the only one who ever is pointed to to ask her question)
3. Free center time for the rest of the day.
