Traditional Owners and fishers have long valued shellfish reefs for their ability to support fish production and habitat for a wide range of marine life. Unfortunately many shellfish reefs are at risk. Globally it is estimated as much as 85% of oyster reefs have been lost including the majority of those that historically existed in Moreton Bay. SEQ Catchments invites you to a presentation by Dr Ian McLeod from James Cook University to learn about these incredible ecosystems and what can be done to rehabilitate shellfish reefs to support better fisheries while improving marine habitats and water quality.
