This document outlines the guidelines for a group skit presentation assignment worth 30% of the final grade for a Conflict Management course. Students will work in groups of 3-4 to create two skits that demonstrate incorrect and correct ways of managing a conflict related to course content. The skits will increase in length and complexity over three due dates. An individual written analysis is also required and must define concepts from the course using APA style referencing.

30% of Final Grade- 10% per Skit Part 1 Group Skits:
Groups will consist of 3-4 people
Each skit presentation will be comprised of two separate skits. As the course progresses, your skits must be longer to accommodate complexity (more course content) The first skit will indicate the incorrect way of managing conflict, while the other will demonstrate a more correct way of managing conflict You will choose a relevant course related issue. In addition to focusing on one core issue, you will add complexity by adding as many other conflict topics/themes/ideas as you can Props and visuals (images on the screen and/or board are highly encouraged
Skit #1 (due week 3) will consist of 2 skits of 3-4 minutes each
Skit #2 (due week 9) will consist of 2 skits of 5-7 minutes for each Skit #3 (due week 11) will consist of 2 skits of 7-10 minutes for each
There will be five (5) segments to your presentation:
1. Introduction: You will formally introduce your skit. Describe all of the concepts you have included in the skit, introduce the setting, roles of each individual, and any other pertinent background information 2. Sub-Skit #1: The incorrect way to handle a conflict 3. Debrief #1: Debrief what we saw and introduce us to what we are about to see 4. Sub-skit #2: The Correct way to handle the same situation. Try not to change all of the elements of your first presentation. Keep some bad behaviour and change the behaviour of one or two people to show how a small change can positively effect a conflict situation 5. Debrief #2/Conclusion: Explain why the second skit was more effective and the better way to handle the conflict
Part 2 Written Academic Analysis:
An individual written academic analysis to be handed in BEFORE
your presentation The academic analysis must include: 1. An introduction and conclusion 2. Proper defining and proper APA referencing 3. Additional sources are also encouraged to support your analysis
4. All terms we study in class are considered key academic
terms. For example, avoidance, stonewalling, inflexibility, unforgiveness, collaborating. If you are talking about how you used collaborating in your skit, you first must define and reference the term collaborating before you can go on analyzing it Minimum of 5 themes in your first analysis Minimum of 10 themes in your second analysis Minimum of 15 themes in your third analysis that draws content from every chapter/lesson we have studied this term
