Inter-caste Marriage Assistance Scheme

Objectives of the Scheme

To abolish caste and community feelings


based on birth and wiping out the
discrimination by encouraging inter-caste
marriage.

Quantum of Assistance

Scheme-1
Rs.25,000/- (Rs.15,000/- as cheque and
Rs.10,000/- in the form of National Saving
Certificate) 4 grams (1/2 sovereign) 22
carat gold coin is provided for making
Thirumangalyam.
Scheme-2
Rs.50,000./- (Rs.30,000 as Cheque and
Rs.20,000 in the form of National Saving
certificate.) 4 grams (1/2 sovereign) 22
carat gold coin is provided for making
Thirumangalyam.

d) Eligibility criteria

Inter caste married couple.


The following two categories of inter-caste
marriages can avail benefits :Category I
The financial assistance is provided to
newly married couples of whom one spouse
should be from Scheduled caste /
Scheduled tribe and the other from a
different Community.
Category II
The financial assistance is provided to a
newly married couple of whom one spouse
is
from
other
community
(forward
community) and the other from the
Backward Class / Most Backward Class
Community.

Scheme-2
1. Degree Holders from colleges,
Distance education / Government
recognized Open University.
2. Diploma holders from the Institution
recognized by the Directorate of
Technical Education Government of
Tamil Nadu

b) Income limit

No income limit

c) Age limit

Bride should have completed 18 years of


age at the time of marriage age. There is no
upper age limit.
