Special Development

UTP 84 FN
Nickel-Iron based electrode, special for
the welding of gray nodular casting iron.
Workable deposit. High yield.

Application Field
Nickel-Iron electrode for the cold welding of all types of gray and nodular cast iron, as well as the junction of gray
cast iron and steel. Particularly indicated for the welding of nodular cast iron. We also recommend it for combined
welding with UTP 8. Good weldability in contaminated cast iron. This electrode has nickel core.
Welding Characteristics
Due to the special coating of the UTP 84 FN, a smooth arch can be obtained. The surface of the deposit is smooth
and clean. The deposited material is resistant to cracks. The transition zone remains workable, and it be worked with
a grid. Yield of 130%.

Welding Instructions
Carefully clean the area to be welded; remove the superficial scale and round up the edges. In compliance with the
wall thickness, chamfer in U or double U. Use the least current the possible, maintaining the arch short with the
electrode perpendicular to the work. Butter the flanks with thin layers which thickness should not exceed twice the
electrode's diameter. The maximum length of the chord should not exceed ten times the core's diameter to avoid
overheating. Remove the slag immediately after the welding and carefully hammer the deposit. Re-lid the arch over
the material already deposited, never over the base material. Delay the final arch of each chord for scale filling.
