Phonetic Skills 1 and 2 Assessment

Reflection: Creating this assessment was a great learning opportunity for me. I
realized that it is very important that assessment be arbitrary to a certain extent in
order to assess the ability of the student to truly apply their knowledge. This
assessment assesses exactly what the lesson outcomes are trying to meet, I believe
that based on this assessment I may have an understanding of which students need
remedial help in order to elevate them to the level of the class. I feel that this
assessment assesses the students in a way that they may be successful if they truly
learned the content.
Targeted Students: I will be teaching students who are the on the ACTFL Novice
Level of English Reading Proficiency. They recognize a few letters or characters.
They can identify a few memorized words and phrases when they read. They are
just starting out but have some experience with a little bit of English.
Objective: This assessment will determine if students can successfully identify and
mark phonetic skills 1 and 2 of Reading Horizons.
