Dear Reader
Over the school year, Ive been molded or shaped into an excellent writer by
my teacher, Mrs. Babcock. She taught me and refreshed my memory on many
things that I would have never thought to be incorporated into the activities we
worked on at this level. Ive developed over this school year to understand that all
types of writings can be brought together to form one beautiful piece. Also, to
realize that I am an overall better writer than I thought I was. I dont feel that I am
stronger or particularly successful in one area of writing because I am an all around
writer. I can write any and all pieces well. There were three main pieces that we
wrote that helped me this year, FF/R, Theme Analysis, and The Research Paper.
These specific pieces helped me realize my potential as a writer, how extensive my
vocabulary was, and how deep I can get into on a specific topic without confusing
my reader.
Although our main focus this year was our process of becoming better
writers, we took a minimal amount of time to focus on our reading too. Just as
writing did, reading also helped me realize my potential, how extensive my
vocabulary is, and how well I can figure out the main topic of a sentence or
paragraph just by reading a few words or lines. Growing into the reader that I am
today took time and hard work. I have surpassed my reading level by 2 grades and
now understand sentences, paragraphs, passages, or books and stories in a more
thorough manner.
In addition to evolving as a reader and writer, I also grew as a person or
individual. Ive learned to handle situations better, not react to everything, and to
focus on myself and my well bengs. Maturing over these past 9 months has brought
much success to my life. Ive been able to stay out of trouble, complete my work on
time, get a job, and pass my SOLs and the DMV drivers permit test. I havent
conquered any fears during this year, but I have gained much from this class. The
things that Ive gained from this class are life contributing such as self control,
responsibility, and leadership. I will carry these things with me throughout my years
in highschool and in the real world in order to evolve my knowledge and myself into
an even more preeminent person so I can continue to be very distinguished and
surpass the others around me.
