Democratic Leadership
Builds consensus through participation:the leader makes the final decision, but the
team to contribute to thedecision-making process.
The leader asks the team's opinions & uses these to make decisions. The team is kept
informed & are allowed to discuss & propose changes to policy.
The leader can't know everything: this is why you employ skillful team members.
This style is not a sign of weakness, more a sign of strength your team will respect.
On both the tests I took being a democratic leader showed up as the highest both
times. I read about it more and I agree that it describes me fairly well. I do consider
myself as a leader to an extent; previously in elementary school I think I took on the role
of leadership but as high school proceeded on I kept more to myself. I see myself as
being a leader when I need to be; I dont try to bring the role onto myself, but a lot of the
time its put on me. Im usually the one to step up, which I do not mind because I like to
lead.
I truly believe I am a democratic leadership because of this, because I try to
include everyone in my decisions. Since most of the times I dont look for the leadership
role, I try to be easier going and less down peoples throats with leading. I find that way
very ineffective and just creates chaos. As well, people usually look up to me in
academic areas, and usually believe I know whats right. Sometimes I feel like people
dont understand that I am learning too, so I often try to get input from others.
