ROSEFEST

Rosefest 2016 declares: I am Roseville!

Linda E. Andersen/Review

Above, the Roseville Community Band hopped in a trailer and

did their thing during last years Rose Parade. At right, Run for
the Roses finishers receive the real thing few things say I am
Roseville! better.

Its a declaration of where youre from, where you live and where
you love: I am Roseville! is the motto of this years annual city celebration, Rosefest.
The summer festival kicks off with the Taste of Rosefest on
Thursday, June 23, running through the weekend with various
events, punctuated by the Rosefest Rose Parade on Monday, June 27.
A week later, Rosefest returns for its annual Independence Day
celebration, the Party in the Park on Monday, July 4.
Its become a long-standing family tradition, says Jill Anfang,
the assistant director of Roseville Parks and Recreation, which organizes the weeklong Rosefest. Its got a good legacy going lets be
proud of ourselves, lets demonstrate who we are.
New this year, Rosefest buttons highlighting the festival slogan are
being given away for free. The button is designed to help residents
demonstrate how they feel about their city.
Its an opportunity to show off their Roseville pride, Anfang

Roseville Suburban Ace gears up for summer

he lazy, hazy days of summer are just around the corner at

Suburban Ace Hardware.

Again this year, Ace is offering a greenhouse with an expanded flower selection including
a variety of hanging baskets, endless flats of budding annuals and colorful racks of seeds.
Plus, the store is well stocked with grills, lawn mowers and garden supplies.

Friendly, familiar faces always ready to lend a helping hand at Roseville Suburban Ace.

It's for the birds

Ace carries a full line of feeding stations for your feathered friends and all the seeds that
go into them, too. Most are designed to defeat those bushy-tailed guys that are after that
bird seed but some residents, kids especially, love to watch those acrobats in action, so
Ace also offers squirrel feeders: just mount them near a window away from your bird feeders and let the action begin!
And with summer in mind, don't forget the lawn. Ace has a full selection of soils, grass
seeds and tools to help improve both the health and the look of your yard.
Only need some tools one time? Check the Ace rental department for timesaving items
such as tillers, aerators and dethatchers.
With summer almost in full swing, its important to keep your lawn mower and other
gas powered tools running properly, notes store owner Mike Johnson. There is still time to
bring your lawn mower in for a tune-up!

An easy addition

Want to step up your outdoor entertaining this summer or just want to create a quiet
place to unwind with an outdoor room? Check www.acehardware.com for great grill and
furniture ideas. Those products can be delivered free to the store in Roseville.

Improve your home with

a fresh coat of paint

Roseville Suburban Aces expanded paint and stain selection includes a full line of Valspar colors and finishes. They also offer Clark+Kensington paints, recently rated No. 1 by
Consumer Reports for overall finish, ability to hide dirt and more. It's a paint and primer all
in one, making application faster and easier. And a recently added line of the well-respected
brand of Cabot stains will make sure you're wood floors and decks are covered as well.
Ace also has an almost endless variety of products, including Craftsman tools. "We're
well-stocked," Johnson says. "You can find what you need; it's a friendly place to shop, and
we're open seven days a week."
Perhaps it's the service know-how as well as the number of products that are drawing
more female customers into the store. "An increasing number of women are doing their
own repairs these days," Johnson adds.
For anyone, Roseville Suburban Ace is "a fun place to shop," Johnson adds. "It's different
from shopping at a big-box. Too many big stores just care about profits, not people.
"At Ace, there's more personal service, and we make you feel you are part of the family. If

Roger Westerling got into the
rare coin and precious metal
business when he was only
17-years-old, alongside his Uncle Truman. Today, he has more
than 40 years of experience in
the field.
All these years have allowed
him to become a knowledgeable source in the trade of gold,
silver and platinum, as well as
expand his business to incorporate other related services.
Many of The Truman Company's customers are regulars,
coming back to Westerling for
all of their evaluations, which
is unusual in the rare coin business. He says it speaks volumes

about his dedication to "doing business the right way and

treating people the right way."
Many of his clients were treated
poorly by other rare coin dealers in the past and now come
to him because they know they
will get an honest deal.
With the unstable stock market, hard assets have become
increasingly desirable to many
people. This has led to more
folks coming to The Truman
Company's office in Roseville to
buy precious metals at affordable prices.
In addition to buying and
selling coins, Westerling and

client needs them in order to

and precious metal items. The
Truman Company will provide
an itemized list of each piece
and its worth for trade-in, inheritance or insurance replacement
purposes.
The Truman Company also
has a full-time employee running
its eBay business, which brings
in coin aficionados from across
the nation. And if someone
wants to switch their IRA from
dollars to precious metals, The
Truman Company can do that
as well. Employees are happy
to walk customers through every step of the process and help
with the necessary paperwork.
It is this dedication to great
customer service that truly sets
The Truman Company apart
from other coin dealers. All employees are licensed coin dealers by the state of Minnesota,
attesting to their honesty and
knowledge of the business.
Recently, the company acquired a platinum American
Eagle coin. Its low mintage rendered it very rare. The Truman

Company bought it quickly, taking a deal from the U.S. Mint

as they often do. By doing this,
they can pass the coins on to
customers at a low price and
give them the best value possible. Since bullion coins like
this often sell out quickly, it also
allows collectors a unique opportunity to acquire coins they
would not be likely to get otherwise.
This is just another of many
examples of how The Truman
Company goes above and
beyond to help its customers.
With service like that, it is
not hard to see why so many
people go back to Westerling
and his experienced employees time and time again for
all their rare coin and precious
metal needs.
His integrity and "A+" rating from the Better Business
Bureau also make his company a great choice for people
interested in starting a coin
collection or those who have
questions about old coins or
precious metals that they have
inherited.

Join neighbors and friends in Rosevilles Central Park for the ninth
annual Taste of Rosefest, a summer
celebration of food, drinks and entertainment. Roseville area restaurants
will serve generous samples of featured food and drinks at 39 stations
set up around the park on Thursday,
June 23 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dale
Street park entrance between County
Roads C and B2.
We had a great time last year and
we plan to attend this year, too, says
Janet Jacobs of Roseville. Small portions allowed us to sample a wide variety of delicious food from local restaurants.
Plenty of local beer and wine was
the perfect accompaniment to the
food, Jacobs adds. And we had fun
checking out the extensive silent auction items, even if we never won.
Past offerings at this Roseville
Rotary Club-sponsored event covered
a broad spectrum of food, including
pizza, ham, beef chunks, barbecue
ribs, sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit,
cookies, soup, imported cheeses, chocolate, scones, carrot cake and smoothies.

University of Northern Iowa, will perform near the entrance to the pavilion
at various times during the evening.
There will be a tent full of treasures
to bid on at the silent auction, or you
can participate in the wine pull raffle
at the event, which kicks off the citys
six-day Rosefest celebration.
Silent auction items are now being
collected and include a glider ride, a
round of golf for four at Midland Hills
Country Club, State Fair grandstand
tickets, autographed sports memorabilia, theater tickets, St. Paul Saints
tickets, art work, and gift cards to local
restaurants and shops.
Last year, some 850 people attended
the event and Rotary raised more
than $46,000, according to Rotarian Jeff Norton. All profits fund local
and international projects, including
$20,000 to fund the second of three
years of the science and technology lab
at Central Park Elementary School.
Taste of Rosefest also benefits the
Roseville Area Senior Program; Rotary
Woods in Central Park; AVID, a mentoring and scholarship program for
middle and high school students; Boy
Scouts and Girl Scouts; Little Brothers
Friends of the Elderly; and international programs to end polio worldwide and support school and hospital
projects in Haiti, Guatemala, Mexico
and Ecuador.
This event is the backbone of our
funding for the good work Rotary does
in this community and throughout the
world, says Rotary President Terry
Carlson.
Taste of Rosefest is also aiming to
be a zero-waste event, notes Rotarian
David Kray.
Last year we diverted 91 percent
of the trash away from the garbage
dump by recycling 600 pounds. The
city asked us about doing it and so
did some potential donors, Kray says.
Recycling is about being a good community partner.
Taste of Rosefest co-chair, Jerry Hromatka, says the night is a communitybuilding experience.
